if your IR with a refreshed date that means your app has been passed off to a new admissions committee

I'm not sure honestly. On the one-hand, you aren't a shoe-in because someone needed to take a second look, but you aren't outright rejected either. It could be good or bad.

Re: USC 2011
I like USC a lot and would love to get in....but at least I have Texas. I wonder why USC hasn't sent any mailings out yet? Seems like they are behind the curve on that.

Same. I was excited because I was under review so fast at USC.... now it's been over a month with no movement.

Re: USC 2011
kinda the same. I went DF 12/8, got excited that I'd soon have a decision in hand. Oops. 20 days later, I'm still wondering where it is and why they're hoarding decisions, and it's not exactly endearing USC to me hahafish tacos wrote:Same. I have been complete as of 11/5 with no status update since then. Sorry if this has been asked before but it actually changes to Under Review, you all are not just assuming?
I also can guess that this isn't the best sign for me...?

Re: USC 2011
it does change to under/in review -- I was under review for about a month -- but I don't think you should be worried that you're still at complete. While none of us knows what goes on in the USC office, the fact that it's taking a while for you to go IR doesn't mean anything, let alone a bad sign, because they haven't really even evaluated your app yet.Student13 wrote:I have been complete as of 11/5 with no status update since then. They don't seem to be sticking to this this year.seancooksey07 wrote:Lasers wrote:does anyone know when people first started receiving decisions last year?
I assume decisions will be given out mostly in Jan/Feb.

Re: USC 2011
just realized I got a date update on 12/25. Starting to think status dates are pretty meaningless... I can't believe anything too significant happened with my app on Christmas day.

Maybe the DF 12/3, 12/8 people will get something in the mail today/tomorrow (I hope so) I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for you all!

I am still only complete from early October. This means I have no chance, right?

WL, maybe ... ?username99 wrote:I am still only complete from early October. This means I have no chance, right?

But none of us really know so a long wait could result in something positive even if a long wait isn't necessarily indicative of something positive.

Does something show up under "mailings" once they've sent something, or are applicants completely in the dark throughout the entire process?

Yes, I'm feeling disheartened, as you should be too. My first cousin is a 2L at GW in the top quarter of his class and isn't even getting sniffs at jobs. However, the job market is terrible right now no matter what you intend to do.glitter178 wrote:i am under review 11/22 and hardly care anymore. anyone else feeling disheartened about all the bad info about job prospects for lawyers? i've never had a plan B and now i'm not so sure law school is the best decision....

I share the same date but not the sentiment. Call me the optimist but things usually work out fine if you work/try/want/slave hard enough.glitter178 wrote:i am under review 11/22 and hardly care anymore. anyone else feeling disheartened about all the bad info about job prospects for lawyers? i've never had a plan B and now i'm not so sure law school is the best decision....

This. We are the c/o 2014. There is no telling what the prospects will look like in three years. Stay positive, peoples.r6_philly wrote:I share the same date but not the sentiment. Re: USC 2011
Not sure I agree with that, but I have a different outlook: I have nothing in my life, no evidence, that I will not demolish law school and be a success. I have decent evidence that I will. I recognize that this is arrogance of a very high order, but either the job market will be better in three years and I'll be fine, or the job market won't be, and I'll be screwed no matter what I do.r6_philly wrote:I share the same date but not the sentiment. Only regret is I'm not doing leveraging my GPA when it's valuable.

Re: USC 2011
Don't worry. Things will either improve by the time we are looking for jobs, or the student loan bubble will collapse in 2009 housing market style leaving us first in line for the bailout.glitter178 wrote:i am under review 11/22 and hardly care anymore. anyone else feeling disheartened about all the bad info about job prospects for lawyers? i've never had a plan B and now i'm not so sure law school is the best decision....
