Accepted off WL at GULC, so I'll be withdrawing from the class in the morning. One more spot is now open -- hope it goes to one of you!

Re: Cornell waiting room
One more thing I remembered from my phone call. They said that there were hundreds of people placed on the waitlist. The person I spoke to said that number was expected to dwindle over the summer as people got into other schools and made deposits. But I think the large increase in applicants means they have a large pool to chose from this year.MURPH wrote:I called on Friday and tried to charm some information out of them. Didn't work. They aren't sure when they will be admitting people. They do plan to break up the reserve group into admits, WL, rejects soon but I couldn't nail down a specific day or week.
On a good note they have drastically increased their yellow ribbon scholarship for post 9-11 vets. If I get in I'll be going for free.

Re: Cornell waiting room
Bah well considering the Facebook group has 159 people, and many people don't accept the add/have facebook, it looks like there may be, at least by my estimate, ~20 spots or less open for hundreds of people? But if anything, xcountryjunkie is just an example of spots opening up as the "summer melt" continues. It is always discouraging to hear that there are hundreds of people placed on the waitlist, but I think at this point I feel it isn't a game of LOCI's or LOR's, rather they will just round out their class with what they feel is lacking, hopefully for me it is URM and for MURPH its non-trad vet?

Finally heard back today for the first time. Put on reserve with a 168/3.77. Anyone else?

Some people were already admitted off of this "reserve" list, but I think the official waitlist has yet to be made :/

I've been on Cornell's reserve list forever, but was admitted into Berkeley the other week (which means I'm going there). Hope this helps someone here.

Bah 1 spot opens up as the facebook page hits a dangerously high 179. Thanks for the update and good luck up north!

Keep in mind the facebook page has a number of current students and staff members. It's not like 195 is the magic cap.

I'm assuming that, like most such pages, it also has students who were admitted but will not, in the end, be attending. I wouldn't worry too much about how many people are in it.

It probably also has a few 2L reps who volunteer to run the FB page ro setting up incoming student events.

Re: Cornell waiting room
gaaahh. I was really hoping to not have to pay a second deposit for my back up school. Which, in reality, is a third deposit because I switched back up schools. I'm $1,250 in now... Not only do I need to pray I get into Cornell off of Reserve, I also need to hope I have the money to pay the deposit. Oh, dilemmas...

Re: Cornell waiting room
If you get in off the wait list say in August, do you have to pay the entire deposit amount up until that point (i.e. the first and second deposit)? Or can you just show up and pay your tuition?

Re: Cornell waiting room
My understanding was that the deposit is part of your tuition. My basis has been schools stating that they credit your deposit to your tuition for your first year.ChinaMex wrote:If you get in off the wait list say in August, do you have to pay the entire deposit amount up until that point (i.e. the first and second deposit)? Keep in mind if you're waitlisted and your school begins earlier than Cornell, you should check out their refund policies. Some schools offer only x% of your tuition back if you withdraw after one week.

No... I am a guy... although a babushka (I had spelt it wrong initially) is a Russian Grandma and how awesome is that? Thanks Woeisme... everybody else has decided to hate me at this point... it is more fun to play the villain anyways =D.
I have a troubling update for everybody. I visited and toured the campus yesterday and while I was on the tour I spoke with the Associate Director of Admissions. She basically said that they seemed to be overenrolled after the last batch of acceptances and that a couple of seats may open up in the course of the summer, but they would be few and far between. Good luck to everybody, but especially those who really, really want to attend.

Re: Cornell waiting room
Hi all. I'm not applying or waiting to hear back from Cornell, but I've been browsing this thread and some people mentioned having interviews with Cornell before DR. Can anyone elaborate on what the interview was like? What kind of questions were asked, and what questions did you ask in return?
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but was just curious and figured you guys would know best. Let me know if I'm out of bounds though and I'll start a thread in the appropriate forum. Thanks.
