Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants
lmao Man, I called my dad after getting my 96 percentile LSAT score and while we were talking he looked up one of those law school ranking lists and he's like, "Oh you should apply here, it's ranked 106, but I know this is a good school, it should be ranked like 20th" (Mind you, he is not a lawyer, did not even attend that school, and I can say pretty confidently knew nothing about the law school in question besides what he saw on that list five seconds ago). I said, "Yeah, I'm not doing that," but he kept persisting and got upset that I would not budge on the matter. Sometimes I wonder how my dad managed to get an M.D.jza1994 wrote:I made the mistake of posting to Facebook yesterday, complaining about making law school decisions (not mentioning what I'm choosing between or anything like that). I was met with way too many people commenting, telling me how I should decide on a law school, without any knowledge of law or law school admissions. Some advice was pointless/obvious, some was just false, some was naive/optimistic, but none of it was requested. I regret everything.

I convinced my friend who posted a status about studying for the LSAT to aim higher than the 153 she said she needed for the local TTT. She became a TLSer at heart and ended up retaking her 163 for a 168, got good T20 money, and ultimately went to vet school instead.

Why did she decide not to go? Or rather, why go from an interest in law to veterinary school?Rigo wrote:I convinced my friend who posted a status about studying for the LSAT to aim higher than the 153 she said she needed for the local TTT. Money didn't end up being right. Her interest was always with animals and animal law is kind of a unicorn thing so she made the right choice. She's doing pretty well I think. Meanwhile I'm here twiddling my thumbs still on the most roundabout law school journey.somedeadman wrote:Why did she decide not to go? A friend posted on Facebook that she was taking the LSAT soecifically so that she could attend Suffolk law school And wanted some study advice. I PM'd her with a link to TLS, offered some other study advice, then told her to focus on getting a great LSAT score so that she could consider other law schools with better job prospects.Rigo wrote:I convinced my friend who posted a status about studying for the LSAT to aim higher than the 153 she said she needed for the local TTT. I have been lucky enough to have a couple of friends that have good grades/scores and are also blanketing the T-14, so I don't have to deal with stupid advice often. My mom is as neurotic as I am and also reads this board sometimes (hi mom) lol. She texts me every day asking if I've heard anything new.

That's really nice. I have one friend who is applying with me. I'm hoping he gets into a USC or UCLA. Everyone else I talked to knew nothing. Not even professors at my undergrad, that I talked to.jjcorvino wrote:I have been lucky enough to have a couple of friends that have good grades/scores and are also blanketing the T-14, so I don't have to deal with stupid advice often. She is also a lawyer so it's a little less weird. She actually is an old school message board user. Back in the day there was a group of lawyers that got together on another message board that is much smaller than TLS. They are all good friends now and actually get together every year in real life.Rigo wrote:jjcorvino wrote: My mom is as neurotic as I am and also reads this board sometimes (hi mom) lol.

Is it weird to bring a parent/parents to ASW?
