Just got onto the 'preferred' waitlist--

is everyone sending LOCIs? Only I applied like last month so there isn't really anything new to add except...more begging. Or do you guys think this is really more like a "hold" at other schools.

I tried to logon onto the admitted students website by hitting the no password button and requesting one. It was emailed to my email address and I just logged in successfully. Does this mean I am in for sure, or did I circumvent the system somehow in my feverish frenzy??????

I was in the exact same spot as you. Decision rendered, was able to log into the Admitted Students site....then got my acceptance letter in the mail a week later.

Waitlisted today via email.

Somewhat surprised even though I got this hint since it was taking so long, but my numbers seemed to qualify me 169/3.8 and I'm in at Duke and Michigan(so I probably wasn't going to attend anyway). Proof that theres a lot of randomness

Now you're making me nervous. I have a slightly higher LSAT but similar GPA, and I got waitlisted at Duke (though I got in at NYU and Columbia, so you're right about the randomness).

I got on the Preferred waitlist today. Applied in mid November and my numbers are 175, 2.98 with 12 years of military and civilian work experience. There are a couple of T14s that I haven't heard from but I think I would go to GULC if I got in. I am also waitlisted at Virginia. Does anyone know if I will improve my chances if I send a letter stating that I will unhesitatingly accept an offer? I am considering sending one to GULC.

If you can say that and color it up with some reasons and specific details, I believe you will have come up with an ideal LOCI.

My friend is able to log into the Georgetown website today. Does that mean he's "definitely" accepted??

We both made plans to attend Wake Forest's reception on Monday, (March 1) but he'll need to cancel his hotel room "if" he's accepted to Georgetown. Will they tell you if you call them?

I'm still waiting, but I applied later.

Could someone please bring me up to speed on how Georgetown handles scholarships/grant offers? What I gather from sifting through the last few pages of this thread is

1) Some people have been invited for scholarship-related interviews, and
2) There's a "yellow sheet" that will be on the admitted students website for the rest of us to fill out.

Is #1 the only way to get major $$? Is #2 also for merit aid, or just need-based? Am I missing other elements of Georgetown's $ formula? (I submitted FAFSA and NeedAccess forms a few weeks ago.)

And for above poster, I believe the yellow sheet is for merit aid. As you already know, Georgetown looks at the Need Access form for any institutional need based aid.

Murph: I have similar stats (although your softs are waaaaaay better) and was thinking about doing the same thing. Possibly getting WL/in at Northwestern is my only hangup. I'm visiting tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes.

I had an interview a few weeks back. It took 2 weeks from the day I interviewed until my status went back to "Under Review", and then I was accepted within 24 hours of that. The hand-written note on my letter mentioned specifically that my interviewer spoke very highly of me, so make sure you nail that interview.

I went DR yesterday, and now my roommate says I have a postcard-sized envelope. I live in the DC area, so if they mailed it yesterday it's believable that it could get there by today. What does a postcard-sized envelope mean?
