Finally accepted....ED hold

Did you write a hold essay or send a LOCI?

Sent a very short LOCI (I accept your hold) in December. No hold essays were offered for ED holds, as far as I know.

I applied before I retook the LSAT - it was a little bit of a hail mary at the time. I am just waiting to see how everything finaid related shakes out... I'd love to attend, and I think I will be, I just have a lot of extraneous factors I'm trying to balance out atm.

I have years of work experience, but the stuff that I put on my resume that I would actually care to have considered only goes back 3 years or so. Been out of college since last June

Right, that's how I read her e-mail anyway. I found it a little confusing that she says we will receive notification of any awards on Friday - but then goes on to say that somebody will be in contact w/ us regarding loans in the next couple of days. Also, they must receive our deposit by the following Monday, the 30th...so essentially we're gonna have to send our deposits before being notified of any awards. Am I interpreting that correctly?

I guess we could wait until Friday and then send the deposit via overnight mail.

Also, I was poring over the regular financial aid info, and it mentions a third form - one with room for essays, etc. but the e-mail doesn't mention this. I'm assuming their leaving this out is the previously mentioned streamlining?

Yeah, the essays aren't required (or optional) for people who get off hold.

E-mail. I was in a meeting and my iPad showed that I got an email w/ subject header "Congratulations from Northwestern!" I had checked my status checker probably an hour before and the date was still my first decision date, but it updated to Fridays date after the email.

Regular hold still waiting... but I checked Dean Lee's recent G+ post and it says that a handful of hold offers were out on Friday, and no more action for hold will happen this week He says that there may be some movement end of next week...
Well, at least he let us know so we do not have to check our e-mails constantly this week hoping for something..

I'm going to play the optimist and hope this means their office is devoting a lot of time to hold admits in the next week or so, and plowing through to do big batches rather than releasing bit by bit. There are some pretty amazing people on hold that we need to clinch the "best 2015 class on TLS" distinction.

This is interesting. Still on hold, applied early Oct. Even flew to Chicago to do a hold interview end of March. No news for me? NU whyyy???

i applied mid january and havent heard anything at all. I emailed admissions (about 2.5 weeks ago) and they said id have a decision in the next few weeks. Am I alone?

What is probably happening:

--> People who got schollies accepted/denied offers on April 16th
--> NU admissions analyzed how much money they had left
--> NU admissions offered packages to already accepted students who were trying to barter
--> NU admissions is waiting until the next deadline (April 30th for non-scholly offers) to start attacking the Hold list

Basically, we should see a surge of people getting in/out/WLed in early-ish May. Maybe May 10th-ish, I'm guessing (takes them a while to figure out who has declined and who has deposited).

I also applied mid-January and haven't got an initial decision back from them. They have told me I would get a decision within the next few weeks, but they have been saying this for several weeks now. I sure hope they aren't dragging it out for this long just to ding us.
