Doesn't look great for us non-holds. On LSN looks like a big wave of WL/Dings in the second week of february. Only an occasional acceptance here or there.

Don't say that! There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to this yet so maybe the pattern will be different from last year?
Please Columbia? I REALLY REALLY REALLY want a VCE.

Re: Columbia 2011!
I mean, I wouldn't put too much confidence into comparing this year's calendar versus last year's, particularly since December LSAT results came out very very late this cycle. Columbia may very well be generally displeased with the kind of applicants it's getting, and taking a closer look at what were (last year) borderline candidates. Who knows? But in both pools there are clearly auto-admit candidates (based on stats). But the non-hold pool may be receiving both acceptance and rejection letters this week by snail mail. (I don't think we have any reported emailed rejections so far.)bistduverrueckt wrote:dabbadon8 wrote:Doesn't look great for us non-holds. Either that or, as was mentioned before, there will be an anti-climactic moment when the holds start pouring in again at 8am...

The numbers of the non-holds people are not all WL/reject numbers...

Am I wrong for thinking it's not necessarily good or bad to be in either group?
The Forgotten: a mix of dings, WLs and acceptances are coming soon
Held: same mix as above... just later

Re: Columbia 2011!
We know that as of early December there were ~200 fewer 170+ applicants in the pool and December test takers were down 16.5%. This means that unless there was stronger 170+ yield from December, the total number of 170+ applicants in the pool is down a fairly significant amount.akikaze wrote:I mean, I wouldn't put too much confidence into comparing this year's calendar versus last year's, particularly since December LSAT results came out very very late this cycle. No one really knows what that means, but it seems to have schools slowing down their decision processes.

Sorted, but not everyone provided that info. If someone wants to post the formula again I can put it in there if it's not too complicated.mel2010 wrote:Please sir, could I have some more...sorting by index? Not that it changes anything.dulcatis wrote:For the non-holds:

Re: Columbia 2011!
Hmm thanks, didn't know that!! That's good news -- I'm not too surprised, though. The classes of '08 and '09 were hammered by the recession -- 2010 seems to be making out comparatively very well. Makes sense that fewer upper-tier candidates are pursuing law school at the moment.bdubs wrote: We know that as of early December there were ~200 fewer 170+ applicants in the pool and December test takers were down 16.5%. 0.045(LSAT)+0.559(GPA)-5.512, if LSAC is to be believed.dulcatis wrote:Sorted, but not everyone provided that info. Re: Columbia 2011!
I got a small white envelope from Columbia and nearly died. It was just a letter from their Outlaw group, though. Which was kind of cool to get but not worth the heart attack and subsequent resignation to my fate. Of course, I then remembered that Columbia dings via e-mail anyway.

Actually I'd hazard to guess the WL/Reject group should be the bigger group. I thin we are all IN!!! Ha!bistduverrueckt wrote:+1 I like the way you think phillyr6_philly wrote:

Re: Columbia 2011!
If you look at the "CLS Clusterf 2011" versus the "CLS Holds" spreadsheets, there seems to be an overarching difference in submission date. The non-held people seem to be mostly december or later, while the held people seem to be mostly pre-december.
I would guess that the non-held people with early submission dates have VCEs either in the 1/28 wave or they have been delayed in the mail, and the later submission date people just have to wait for either a VCE or a hold/waitlist....
it is also possible that those that haven't heard back with early submission dates might be in for a ding (based off the index number), but that is not possible, because you all are getting VCEs
