When I went for my hold interview they said they would be reviewing them over these couple of weeks. So maybe decisions next week based on deposit movement?

Would you guys be willing to pay sticker for NU? It's probably unlikely that we'll receive scholarship money even if we are accepted, right?

ETA: and that's assuming "paying sticker for NU" is itself an option, which...

There's no need-aid/merit aid split. Once they are out of money, they are out of money for everything.JamMasterJ wrote:yeah. yeah I know. I just mean, my guess is that people will get in off hold when others withdraw, and presumably, that will include people with scholarships. If I get in, there is a chance that a little money is left, and with my income level, I'll probably get somethingFlips88 wrote:There's no need-aid/merit aid split. What I find interesting is that while the review of hold applications actually started earlier this year (according to a post from Dean Lee), minus that small first wave, hold notifications are going out later this year than last year. I find this especially surprising considering the decrease in applicant, and I find it especially annoying because I am currently held

I'm wondering how much of that has to do with ASW and scholarship deposit deadlines both being this past week/weekend, because I imagine that takes up a lot of their manpower in the weeks before and after. No idea if that's actually a part of it or not.jrthor10 wrote:What I find interesting is that while the review of hold applications actually started earlier this year (according to a post from Dean Lee), minus that small first wave, hold notifications are going out later this year than last year. NU has been a LOT more generous this year compared to last year, that could possibly extend to Hold candidates as well.Golden Bear 11 wrote:Thread from 2011-

Well, I imagine that just as with acceptance offers, they strategically overoffer money as well, knowing that a certain percentage of people will be turning them down.JamMasterJ wrote:and if people withdraw that have scholarships, I can't see where else that money could gocrumpetsandtea wrote:NU has been a LOT more generous this year compared to last year, that could possibly extend to Hold candidates as well.Golden Bear 11 wrote:Thread from 2011-

Although TBF it seems like their first use of the turned-down scholly money is for those who are already admitted: foxylaxy just posted in the admitted students thread that they agreed to double her scholly from Michigan (she did not get ANY money initially). Depending on how generous they are in this regard, it might limit the amount of money left for hold students.
