Personally, I'm waiting for the person who volunteered to call CLS tomorrow and see if they can get a feel on what exactly this hold was and whether they are wanting LOCIs.

Thanks for the advice Knock! and I was also thinking about calling them and speaking to Ms. Flores about how to approach this situation. I'll be monitoring this thread very closely for the answer but I'm willing to call if people need more answers

I'd like to jump into this thread and need some advice.

Also held today, very surprised since I'm a 3.92/167.

Judging from what I've read over the last few pages ITT, Columbia is not a big fan of LOCI? Would it be dangerous to send in a letter that specifically mentions the hold on my file but why I am a good fit? Would an additional, and 4th LOR help?

I am also considering not to send an updated transcript as my GPA took a dip down. would this be ok if I'm already at their 75% for GPA?

You shouldn't be very surprised with a 167 . I think the short answer is, no one here really knows. This caught most of us by surprised. I don't think a LOCI or 4th LOR would hurt, but your odds aren't good either way. Definitely don't send in an updated transcript unrequested if your GPA went down.

yeah, I mean considering this is their first year emailing the holds, it's possible there was some problem there.

i wouldn't be surprised if it was a mistake of some sort, but the holds came out in a prolonged stream it seemed. so i feel like they would have caught their mistake idk

Agreed. As much as I'd like to think of this as a mistake, I don't think anything a mistake as egregious as this is possible, heh. Also, they DID hint that they would email all non-accepts, right? So it's not like they suddenly changed their minds and wanted to accept us only to mistakenly hold us all.

Honestly, am I allowed to say that I'm astonished by the quality of the deferral/held pool? Everyone has impressive stats and great applications, I'm sure!

No offense taken. Like I said, very surprised since I'm 4 points below the 25% for LSAT. But I don't know what to make of this so I guess I'll take it?

OMG just caught up on the 20 PAGES!!! since I had to leave 3 hours ago. I can't believe the holds continued on for another hour!!! I'm also sitting at no hold/no VCE, but I don't have solid numbers by any means. For myself personally (and thus not for the whole forgotten group), I am terrified by the fact that I didn't get held. I'm hesitant to consider myself a part of the forgotten group until tomorrow, which I'm guessing may be when they start the reserve/ding emails. I'm officially enjoying what will probably be the last night I can hope to get into Columbia Law. But I still think some of you non-holds with higher numbers should keep the hope alive!

Sorry, I was referring to their recent blog posted in which they said "Please note that this year we are exploring new options to contribute to a greener planet and will be sending many decisions by email." Of course, they then listed "Admit" as one of the categories under this, and we all know that Admits still receive physical VCEs. I assumed that all others would receive decisions via email, but this may be wrong.

imo, having a hold that says you'll get a decision no later than 4/22 might as well be a waitlist, so I just don't understand why they even bothered. I was personally being a bit sarcastic with my post and was half expecting someone to post the NYU no precedent lolcats, but it didn't happen.
I'm resigned to writing Columbia off.

Sure! Hopefully in the years to come they'll adopt e-mail for everything so us poor applicants won't have to ponder about snowstorms and VCEs.
