My girlfriend and I gave Veep a try a couple months ago and couldn't get into it, think we got four episodes in? That being said, Julia Louis Dreyfus is bae.

If you have the time, I'd plow through Season 1 to get to Season 2. Season 1 is fine, but it really finds it legs towards the end/beginning of next season.

It's true. Season 8 is definitely not the same as the first seasons, but I still love it. By this point I'm so invested in the characters it doesn't even matter to me what happens in the plot

The end is horrific. Cried like a damn baby over Deb's ... predicament. She didn't get the ending she deserved and by extension nor did Dexter.
I was happy to see Season 5 end though, because I didn't love the Lumen storyline.

Yeah I think the fact that they couldn't shoot many scenes with the whole cast together really killed it. Shitty season but amazing show
