Yea I think I'd have to agree. But again, you never know, so it's worth a shot. I have no idea how busy the admissions office is at the moment, but they'd probably want to have this done within the next few weeks.

I'm not sure, but it would make sense for them to be reassigned to people with full rides that haven't received the Dean's Fellowship.

I wrote about SES in my addendum. I addeded sexual orientation as well. Of course, I made a slight mention of SES in my PS - it's life and a personal motivation.

What I want to say is you have to think what kinds of message you are sending to the law school. If you have a solid point to include/integrate this topic in to your PS, then that's OK.

I would not touch this topic at all because I can't premeditate people's responses on these kind of topic.

I don't think it really matters what you write as long as you come across as literate. Although it matters a lot more when you are below both medians and not a URM, I imagine. The odds there are already pretty far against you.

Well all I know is I wrote mine partially on socioeconomic background and every school I have talked to, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. WASHU especially praised it several times. Not a humblebrag, just saying I know firsthand the subject can make an effective PS.

I think schools really do want diversity, and this includes SE type backgrounds. They don't want a class full of 3rd generation lawyers.

I forget what sad piece of shit essay i turned in as my PS lol, honestly don't get caught up in the debate. Present yourself to the adcomm as best you can, whatever topic that may be. Ultimately your PS won't really matter all that much in most cases

Yea, I wouldn't recommend that anybody follow Chinese Mafia's advice. SES essays (assuming they are legitimate, of course) are a great PS topic.

I wouldn't take my post as vindication, as non-PS mentions of SES directly led to a fairly desirable outcome at another school (lol vagueness). I wrote my PS about military experience, because getting shot at always makes for a good story. hth.
