Everything about that place exudes win. The food is fantastic for the price. Beer and atmosphere don't even need explaining. That's why I can't go to Emory--BSP is like a half mile or so south of campus. I'd spend all my time drinking there instead of studying.rad law wrote:Yes. So many good beers, plus a great atmosphere. Are you pretty familiar with the area, and do you think Decatur is a better option than the Buckhead neighborhood?rad law wrote:You might also want to do a little research on Decatur, because Emory is actually closer to Decatur than a lot of Atlanta areas. Buckhead is closer to the city and nightlife, but I imagine Decatur to be significantly cheaper. One other neighborhood you should check out is Morningside/ Virginia Highlands, which is adjacent to the Emory area, but has its fair share of barstwintipping_bumps wrote:Are you pretty familiar with the area, and do you think Decatur is a better option than the Buckhead neighborhood?rad law wrote:You might also want to do a little research on Decatur, because Emory is actually closer to Decatur than a lot of Atlanta areas. Like the above poster said, Buckhead is a lot more expensive than Decatur. Also, I would add that it is not that convenient to the law school. I would go with Virginia Highlands over both, because I like more bars there and the atmosphere is good, plus most places there are as close to or only a little farther away than Decatur. The only problem is VA Highlands can get expensive unless you have a few roommates. Decatur is probably cheaper, though I can't think of anyone off the top of my head right now who lives there that I know, so I don't really have a point of reference.twintipping_bumps wrote:Are you pretty familiar with the area, and do you think Decatur is a better option than the Buckhead neighborhood?rad law wrote:You might also want to do a little research on Decatur, because Emory is actually closer to Decatur than a lot of Atlanta areas. However, cheapest and closest to campus are the numerous apartment complexes located near the campus.

Do you guys know anything about the Clairmont Campus pool? Is it open to students often, and is there a nice scene there? It has two high dive spring boards. I live diving off those things for a workout, so that would be a huge bonus.

Pool closes on November 1 and opens on April 1. Grad students get full access to the Clairmont pool.twintipping_bumps wrote:Do you guys know anything about the Clairmont Campus pool? That is pretty great to hear. The facility looks fantastic, especially the diving well.

I got in via snail mail on 2/22 (after going complete 2/17), but there was no scholarship information in the mailing. Might I still get a scholarship letter, or should I assume I wasn't awarded any?

Grats, music (and everyone else), and there still might be a chance for scholly. It'll depend on your stats. Emory sends out acceptances and then a few weeks later it'll send out scholly info in a separate mail.
For those of you who do love good bear for a reasonable price, or some solid burgers, then Emory definitely is a nice place to be. Although I cannot provide specifics on this, as I don't have a car in GA (and have been leeching rides off of others, all good people), if anyone has questions about classes, people, administration, housing, or other things, PM me and I'll be happy to help.

Your numbers twin and people around your numbers got 72k on LSN so I'd say you have a great shot.musicfor18 wrote:My numbers are 167/3.7caic517 wrote:Grats, music (and everyone else), and there still might be a chance for scholly. I'd be really surprised if you didn't get anything...it'll probably arrive in a few days. My guess is that you'll get between 60k and 72k.musicfor18 wrote:My numbers are 167/3.7caic517 wrote:Grats, music (and everyone else), and there still might be a chance for scholly. For those of you almost set on emory, where do you plan on living? I heard campus crossing was a pain in the ass this year.

Re: Emory 2010
i've been doing research on places... i'm not planning on bringing my car with me, so i'll be somewhere near campus (close enough to bike)/near a cliff bus stop. i don't want to go to cc because i already own furniture that i like (but for others that care - what have you heard?). i think calibre woods and the reserve at lavista walk look nice... they're reasonably priced compared to what i'm used to, especially without the expense of a car. i don't know many spots open up in the various apartments & when the best time to go apartment hunting would be... might go in june maybe?Sammey1253 wrote:For those of you almost set on emory, where do you plan on living? Re: Emory 2010
My app went complete on 3/2 for Emory (Feb LSAT) and I'm excited to hear back from them! I'm a 3.02/168 with a GPA addendum/pos trend so hopefully I get an accept here, would be amazing. Looking on LSN shows a few people in with similar numbers (Same GPA +/- 1 LSAT) and LSP puts me at a consider.
Do they only send out snail mail responses or do they e-mail you if you get in/denied/WLed?? Not really looking for a scholly just to get in, anyone feel like chancing me based on this year's cycle and my late app??

Has anyone tried negotiating a bump in scholarship? Does that ever work @ Emory?

For all those going to the admit day:
Is anyone else going to BU's admit day on the 9th, flying into Atlanta that evening, and going to Emory's admit day on the 10th? Also, I am planning on checking out the area around Emory on the 11th, would you guys recommend getting a rental car for those 2 days? and last question...does anyone know which hotel is better, the oncampus one or the Emory inn?
thanks
