Just got a phone call from George Mason, but was unable to answer it as I am at work. They did not leave a message. Googled the phone number and it was from GM's Assistant Dean of Admissions. If they call me again at work, I don't think I will be able to answer. Has anyone received their admission via voicemail? Will they leave a message if they can't get a hold of me at work?

I had also missed the call from GMU without voicemail, despite others getting the acceptance through message, but received the acceptance in the mail 2 days later. No need to fret, you got it!cardinalandgold wrote:Just got a phone call from George Mason, but was unable to answer it as I am at work. They did not leave a message. I am in the same boat, I like in Arizona and it is 75 degrees right now! But I figure the 27th is the best date for me plus, it is my first experience with the D.C. winters so I have an idea what to expect (and what clothes to buy!).

Or you could spend the next week or so in the gym 24/7 and build yourself into Arnold II so you can show up in tank tops.

If I do that I will have to practice my Arnold II accent so I can call people "girly-men" properlyBigFatPanda wrote:Sweater, jean, and a jacket will be fine.BeccaBaby13 wrote:ram jam wrote:Anybody going to the open house on the 27th? Re: George Mason 2010
The typical thing I've heard is that you need to have worked in VA 1year+ BEFORE starting law school. You might be able to get in other ways, but thats the easiest slam dunk way to do it.Doodsmack wrote:So, is it safe to say that if I were to move to VA next month, work in DC until July, and fulfill all the other requirements, I could get in-state tuition starting my 2L year?BigFatPanda wrote: As long as you pay state income tax, you're good.
Further, you should watch out for this really annoying Virgina car tax: for every $100 worth, they will tax $4.57 out of you. So if you drive a Beemer or Mercedes, its bad news for you. Unless you get a job as a police officer, in that case, the car tax is waived.

Nope they are correct and I was a bit surprised also re: top of my class in econ...kinda makes me think they're not very holistic with their approach to admission due to my 163 lsat. (look at the LSN chart there is a very visible 164 or 3.8 ugpa barrier to entry unless URM) Oh wellBigFatPanda wrote:!jlnoa0915 wrote:w/l .....![]()

I was shocked because i was expecting your USMC credentials and your honors in economics to carry u over the 164 cutoff mark. I guess military soft didn't kick with GMU law admissions.jlnoa0915 wrote:Nope they are correct and I was a bit surprised also re: top of my class in econ...kinda makes me think they're not very holistic with their approach to admission due to my 163 lsat. Has anyone heard anything about scholarships yet? I know they said late February so I am hoping we will hear something soon.

Re: George Mason 2010
I'm not sure how accurate this is. I am below 164, JUST below 3.8, but I'm not a URM and I still got in (nothing overly spectacular about my application/resume either). That leads me to believe they at least somewhat have a holistic view.jlnoa0915 wrote:Nope they are correct and I was a bit surprised also re: top of my class in econ...kinda makes me think they're not very holistic with their approach to admission due to my 163 lsat. Just my opinion, though.

Does anyone know if George Mason reimburses or otherwise provides stipend for travel to admitted students day(s)? My packet is at home and I can't seem to find any info on this.

Yeah I know George Mason is known for not giving out much in scholarships anyways but every little bit would definitely help.BigFatPanda wrote:Nothing about Financial Aid. I emailed Ms. Price about a week ago and she said unfortunately they are unable to reimburse for travel expenses.lawman2010 wrote:Does anyone know if George Mason reimburses or otherwise provides stipend for travel to admitted students day(s)?
