There will be a huge packet of housing recommendations full of student reviews in the acceptance package.

Looks like I'll be kickin' it by the mailbox again next week.

So does scholarship info come in the packet, or separately?

That's what I'm wondering. If the packet is coming soon and (from what I've read in this topic) scholarships will be decided on in 3-5 weeks, I don't see how that would work. I wish they'd figure it out quick--those deposit deadlines sneak up on ya.

Last year I got my scholarship info after I got the acceptance package.

I have a question for those of you who are familiar with SMU's admissions cycle (from reading last year's thread Im assuming):

Any clue when should we expect the next round of acceptances? I have pretty solid #'s for SMU (165, 3.7x) and am very eager to hear from them.

It seems that the first round of RD calls were made the 3rd Friday of February in '09. So...I'm hoping we RD ppl will get the coveted call on 2/19.

To all -- know some people in the admissions office (student workers). They are admitting not only ED but RD as well. I have this verified, one of my friends was accepted yesterday (first round of acceptance phone calls) and she did NOT apply ED...she applied beginning of December. I dont have a solid confirmation on numbers, but I think 3.4 GPA (at most) and like a 165.

I do know she was accepted at other schools in the T50 and had sent in two seat deposits. I recall from last cycle schools can see where you have submitted seat deposits...perhaps SMU saw this and realized they wanted to get on the ball with accepting her? This is all speculation, of course.

Based my comment on this post talking about the first round of acceptances. Sorry I have better things to do then to read through 25 pages of "I wonder when SMU will be accepting people". Still, I feel that I have valuable (and more importantly ACCURATE) info to hopeful 1Ls. That information is invaluable at a stressful time like this.

thank you for this nice, concise, and seemingly accurate information. with so many threads to keep up with it's hard to remember all of the details that have been verified. i've already been accepted & was ea, but it was nonetheless very thoughtful of you for taking the time to post this for those waiting.

I applied for the PT program starting in the Fall of 2010. Status changed to decision rendered on 1/28. Have not received a call yet. Last name starts with H. If they are going alphabetically, they skipped me. Not sure if this means that I was not admitted.

your softs would obviously be strong, and you must be non-trad so I would say your GPA will probably not keep you out, but your LSAT is below median. I have no real insight, but I would say you have a fighting chance, and I would be shocked if they had just rejected you outright.

I'm in PT with a lower GPA and 160 LSAT. According to LSN testimonials and whatnot, I think SMU really looks at softs more than most schools. I have a good UG degree in a tough major and good Master's degree and GPA, so I definitely think they looked at more than just my GPA/LSAT combo. I'll probably be in Dallas in the fall. Good luck!

if there is scholarshp money, then it will be in the hunt for sure. I live in Dallas now, and my wife has a great job here. However, if there is not scholly money, or not enought, then it slips pretty far. I have good offers from better schools, and even some that don't rank as high in USNEWS, but for other reasons would be better if the money wasn't laid out for me. So, I am waiting, I like the school a lot though, definitely a great institution, just expensive. We will see, I have a lot of tough choices ahead.

1/2= tough call
