I got used to the idea I was going to be able to find a nice 1 bedroom apartment (or house tbh) for like $700-$800/month when I was looking for housing in Bloomington, IN. Now I'm disgusted looking at the prices for apartments for a semi-decent 1 bedroom in Austin, and I have to factor in Austin traffic.

A 1-bedroom *anything* in central Austin? If you're financing COL through loans... yikes. I would save myself the commute and get a roomie or two.

Thank you! And in response to this housing thread, I am actually stoked at the prospect of paying Austin rent prices. Currently living in Boston paying 1550 (this is considered very, very cheap for the city...and 1550 is a reduced price because I got the apartment last minute!shouldve been 1700, apparently) for a small, non-centrally located 1 bedroom with mice And then I have a sister living in South Texas paying 700 for a luxury 1 bedroom apartment with a gate and a pool...lol. The price we pay to live in big cities!

I was warned to avoid it due to traffic, but I might have to go a bit farther from the campus so that I can get a better apartment for a more reasonable price because the one you linked looks great for that rent.

There are a bunch of ones that look like this near campus! Idk what the deal is lol. Haven't been in this building but most of the weird looking ones are usually just fine on the inside. That's a solid location too, far enough from undergrads and close to campus.

Late March at the very end of my cycle. IIRC, once Texas offers you their reconsidered scholarship, you have 5 days to accept it and matriculate, or else your scholarship offer is withdrawn. So it'll be the last one I renegotiate.

houston's the biggest market followed by dallas followed by austin, i think

median supposedly is less than a coin flip's chance at biglaw and is variable depending on your own interviewing skills/hustle/etc. (so can go either way)

It seems like a really nice idea, especially since it not only connects 1Ls to other 1Ls, but to upperclassmen and faculty as well. Plus, it's a nice way to remind law students to have fun every now and then lol.
