I missed a call from a 510 number yesterday evening. No voicemail. When I searched the phone number online it came up as originating from "Univ of Cal. Berk."

Then again, I went to Berkeley for undergrad so maybe they were just calling to ask for another alumni donation :x

Hey, maybe it's a 6 figure donation over the next 3 years

Berk alum too... this happened to me the first day cal started accepting. The pro tip is 510-643 is the calling center coming after your dollars and 510-642 is actual uni depts. I know I sound crazy but I also worked for the university and had to discern between the two for a while (cause no Berkeley I didn't magically stumble upon money to give you in the last year and change)

You should call back--mine was from a 510 number without a voicemail and the dean answered when I called back and told me I was admitted.

No status change yet. Gonna call back on my lunch break. ::fingers crossed::

I'm a reverse splitter so Berkeley is more of a dream shot anyway.

Each department has a different phone number, look up the JD admissions phone number and see if it's the same - if it is you can call in and say you missed a call from them (I've done that with a few schools)

Seeing a lot of people go under faculty review, but I've been under review since 11/28. Is this bad?

No.

Faculty review is an unnecessary step that I've seen described in threads as an additional step the dean takes when he sees an applicant that he's not sure how the faculty would lean (accept vs. deny). Based on my understanding, the idea is that the adcomm folks can usually look at applicants and say, "This is/is not the kind of applicant faculty members would like to see" but every now and then there's someone in a gray area, so they just let the faculty look at the apps.

do you know if the dean will waitlist applicants? Or just those who go to FR?

I don't recall seeing anything about that, but I'd imagine that you can get WLed without going FR first.

I believe I saw something last year that only FRed applicants are waitlisted, but I could be wrong about that! I don't have a source

If the dean only accepts and rejects the sure things then I would guess WL is only the FR people.

Wow, thanks for posting about it! In via status checker too! I was straight up denied last year!

It took me awhile to tell - all I was looking at at first was the "decision has been reached" part lol, and last year when I was denied all the rejection language was at the top.
