I'm guessing since I was just admitted a week ago that I shouldn't expect to receive any scholarship news today? Are scholly notifications done in waves (similar to admission decisions)?

After much procrastination, finally sent my app. Bit of a hail mary. LSAT < 25th , GPA at median, URM. Only T14 I'm applying to.

I know my LORs are strong, and I feel good about my supp. essays. Only things I feel weak about my app are the LSAT score and my PS.

Dude if your LSAT is even close to their 25th and with your gpa, you should apply to more t-14 schools. You could get a nice boost since you are Mexican. I'm Hispanic but not Mexican and I did that with a lower gpa (albeit a higher LSAT). You have nothing to lose!

I was thinking about applying to Cornell and Georgetown. It's kind of intimidating tho

I never thought I would be applying to schools like these or even have the chance of attending one. I just got to get rid of this mindset.

Please apply to as many T14 schools as possible! I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised... just check out URM stats on LSN if you need some motivation!! GL

Seems like the typical timeline is roughly?
[App in] - 1 month - [App goes complete] - 1 month - [Admission decision] - 1 month - [Scholarship decision]

Submitted 12/12... I'm below both 25ths so I'm not expecting much, however, I received the packet from Michigan with the fee waiver and a tidbit on the Latino Law Students Association... and it said in the letter that I'm a candidate with a strong chance of admission.. which I really don't get. I get the whole sending out fee waivers to reject applicants and make them look more selective, but why say that in the letter? Lol this has been driving me crazy because I hate that it's getting my hopes up!

are you a URM and how far below the 25ths are you? a URM with a 160+ does have a strong chance.

Not a URM, but Hispanic. 161/3.33

I also received that letter. MA with 164 LSAT / 3.7 GPA

What I don't understand is- isn't Michigan supposed to have race-blind admissions?

That's not actually what Grutter v. Bollinger says, or what Michigan law specifies. I think California is one of the states where state schools explicitly cannot use race as far as I recall.

The state of Michigan enacted a law after Grutter banning affirmative action in admissions. So Michigan can't take race into account at all in admissions, but Michigan CAN encourage as many minority applicants as possible to apply.

I wouldn't say false hope or a sick joke - Michigan is truly very holistic and they do accept people below both medians sometimes. I'm non-URM and was under both medians (but very close to both medians) and was admitted off the WL in 2013. Maybe they admit some non-URMs who are below both medians so that they can admit URMs who are below both medians without getting hit by a lawsuit saying they're breaking the law? Who knows. But anyway I wouldn't count yourself out.

For people who have requested fee waivers, does mich do this thing where they say "we only hand out waivers through CRS" and then you magically get one 2-3 days later? I remember hearing something like this last year and wanted to see if they still do it.

They said they evaluate schollies in the order that people were accepted for the most part,

Are there any other late-October applicants out there who still have yet to receive a decision? I applied 10/25, went complete 11/4, and haven't heard since. FWIW, I'm above both 75ths and didn't write a Why Mich. Starting to think I might've been YP'ed.

I also got that letter!! Hispanic with a 163/3.0 - there is no way that I am a "strong candidate with a strong chance of admission" I applied anyways though!

If the reviewer notices you are waiting on a Dec LSAT (they should), then I am pretty sure you won't be complete for a few weeks after they receive your Dec LSAT.
