If you don't mind me asking, do you think it was the softs or what other components made you stand out?

If i had to answer I think it was that I had a strong theme throughout my application. But I should also mention thatI am URM.

You know I have been absolutely dismayed at the negativity shown towards URMs in these threads. But why should I, this is what folks do when they can hide behind anonymity. You should be ashamed of how you essentially just boiled this person's hard work and accomplishments down to just their URM status. Jealousy can be shown in so many ways and that should not be the spirit of these threads.

+10000. In HS, I was told it was aa when I got into my ivy undergrad. In grad school, someone said it was aa when I got a scholarship for my M.A. Let alone not knowing my scores, etc.

Sick of the constant belittlement especially on this thread. Especially because we deal with it our entire lives. Especially because URMs have lower percentages of acceptance - check out Spivey's data compared to whites.

Congrats on getting in, don't let anyone dull your accomplishments. There are hundreds of URMs rejected, you deserve it.

Thank you!! Unfortunately, I did not keep track of my status checker. It made me way too nervous so I pretty much ignored it. I submitted my application on 12/08.

Thank you!! I submitted an application that was personal and I have the experience to back up what I said. I am a child of immigrant parents so I wove part of their story into my application and talked about how this has influenced my decision to go to law school and help others in similar situations. My resume aligns with my personal statement in that I have a lot of internships and work experience (legal assistant for a non-profit, union organizer, research assistant, state court volunteer) that show that I am committed to that kind of work. I worked every semester while I was in college and was committed to my extracurricular activities. I also submitted 3 academic letters of recommendation and 1 professional one. I think my passion showed through. Good luck to you!
