Does the date changing on the status checker mean anything? It still says "under review," but the date used to be 10/22 and now it's 11/01.

Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I'm working on my "Why UVA" essay and I'm particularly interested in 2 of the clinics they offer.
Would focusing on my interest in these clinics be a good idea or should I talk about some things that are more unique to UVA?
Good luck everyone!

Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
IN!!!!!!!!!!
Had a wonderful 20 minute chat with Dean Faulk. It went perfectly. He asked:
1. A question about a soft listed on my resume. "What did you take away from that experience?"
2. "What was the most impactful conversation you've had and why?"
3. "What job do I see yourself doing in 10 years? 30 years?"
4. "What questions do you have for me and about the school?"
At the end he told me that I was admitted to class of 2020. I guess being a school's thread OP is still the strongest soft you can have--remember this class of 2021. (Speaking of, will start the Class of 2020 Admits once the mods open up that forum.)
So, my cycle is over!!! Withdrawing all my other applications today and putting in my seat deposit. See you all in Charlottesville. Come play softball with us.

I'm going to the one restaurant in Haiti that serves American-style food and I'm going to order a greasy nasty burger, fries and a Prestige beer (maybe two or three).R. Jeeves wrote:yeeeeeeeeeeponderingmeerkat wrote:IN!!!!!!!!!!![]()

I sent her a message, but she's already living that biglaw junior associate life. So, she'll be billing like a maniac and won't see her phone until she gets a two minute washroom break three hours from now. Poor girl--now she's gotta work hard to make sure my "kept man" lifestyle is maintained.R. I know after meeting with some UVA people last week its my wife's top choice now, so there's a good chance we'll end up in Charlottesville as well.

Hey guys--
I'm a little late to the party, but I'm almost done with the UVA app, and my last piece is a Why UVA essay. What kinds of things are good (or not so good) to focus on? Is anything too generic or too specific?

You should dudes! UVA was ridiculously awesome for Mrs. Meerkat. She loved every minute (that's a lie--1L year around finals sucked bad--but other than that).SweetTort wrote:Congrats FAM, you deserve it! You've put in so much work.

It's gunna be a great three years. Hope to see you guys there! (But TexasEng--no, I will never play FF with you again--ever)

I would go with specific, concrete examples about what appeals to you about UVA. Clinics, programs, journals, unique opportunities, etc. It'll show you researched and know what you're talking about as opposed to some generic, "I like your schools cause...reasons".airwrecka wrote:Hey guys--

Awesome, that's what I figured. How much weight does admissions put on the "why" essays? I've heard that compared to other schools, it's really important at UVAponderingmeerkat wrote:I would go with specific, concrete examples about what appeals to you about UVA.
