Re: USC c/o 2018 Applicants Thread (2014-2015)
I just looked through a bunch of old threads and it seems that they did negotiate with some people. The dean also called some personally and said they were giving 10 full rides. That might have been a knee-jerk reaction to the ranking decline. I'm sure they are hoping to go back to 18 which is where they usually are when the new rankings come out in a couple of weeks.

Hi ho folks,
Got my scholly offer (I did not complete my second round Rothman interview, so that's over). $120k total, $40k/year. I have a two better offers, so I am going let USC know and see what happens.

What do you mean by "second round Rothman interview"?cc78 wrote:Hi ho folks,

There was a second round of skype interviews for Rothman candidates a week ago, I think. I decided not to participate.iVi wrote:What do you mean by "second round Rothman interview"?cc78 wrote:Hi ho folks,

The scholarships seem a little short. They are basically the same as last year but the decline in applicants should have meant a slight increase.

That they do...they could be throwing it out there to get the less interested folks to bail so they can increase offers to the truly interested.lawplaya wrote:The scholarships seems a little short. USC did not charge an application fee so they might have had a ton more applicants.

I certainly hope so. They also seem to be very heavily weighing GPA, which isn't unusual for the CA schools, but, as a splitter, I was really hoping a good LSAT would be more valuable this cycle.cc78 wrote:That they do...they could be throwing it out there to get the less interested folks to bail so they can increase offers to the truly interested.lawplaya wrote:The scholarships seems a little short. I looked back at last years thread and someone went "Decision Finalized" on a Friday and got an acceptance email on Monday. There were a wave of acceptances the past Friday so he thought he would be dinged. Don't give up hope yet! ...oh and I'm like 90% sure they wouldn't let us know on a Saturday/Sunday since they're not in the office.spursfan21 wrote:+1 seems like a dinganxs wrote:Ahh still no email regarding decision. There is one obvious pattern it seems. Low LSAT with high GPAs are getting better money than high LSAT with low GPA.

For real. There are people on LSN who I outscored on the LSAT by almost 10 points but who have a better GPA that were offered more than I was. And there's at least one person that I outscored by seven points but who has a perfect GPA that was offered twice as much. Guess my GPA addendum wasn't as effective as I'd hoped.lawplaya wrote:There is one obvious pattern it seems. Low LSAT with high GPAs are getting better money than high LSAT with low GPA.

I didn't get an email this weekend but I was really expecting some money from USC. Does anyone know if they will be continuing to roll out offers to those who have already been admitted?

For sure, there is still a ton of people to be accepted and they haven't even send out any waitlists or rejections.

Speaking as someone you are most likely talking about, I would say I have a tremendous explanation for my low LSAT score. Also, they might think you won't actually go there, or are using them for scholarship bait.spencercross wrote:For real. Yeah it burns. I'm 7 years out of undergrad and have near perfect GPA from my hard science masters degree, but no one cares. We should revoltspencercross wrote:For real. Re: USC c/o 2018 Applicants Thread (2014-2015)
Haha. I don't doubt it, but I was looking specifically just at LSN users (as opposed to TLS ppl I've messaged with) and there are at least three more in the same category as you and I doubt they all had great LSAT addendums. Also, I don't want to disclose too much, but I'm local and have a ton of professional experience that makes me a particularly good fit for them, so I don't think they doubt my intentions. Really, I think it's just the same story as it is every cycle: CA schools are addicted to GPA.MennetoC wrote:Speaking as someone you are most likely talking about, I would say I have a tremendous explanation for my low LSAT score. Re: USC c/o 2018 Applicants Thread (2014-2015)
I just took a quick look at LSN and I saw someone with a 173 3.48 get only 90k. That makes no sense. He/she will be accepted at a t-14 and will not consider USC at 90k at all. The only way he/she will considers USC is with a full or near full ride. They are better of rejecting or waitlisting these people for yield protection like UCLA does..
