Congrats, spaceman! When did you apply? I'm in state as well with strong softs, slightly below median LSAT, GPA>75th. Tech undergrad tho

Been waiting since early November.

Thanks! I went complete 12/19. I think being a UT undergrad helped (one of my letters was from the public law chair at the school) and also being military. You've still got a great shot being above a 75th!

Being a UT UG with good numbers helps. I'd say probably 5-10% of the class are UT alum, so the school likely wants to keep them down for institutional diversity. However, many UT UGs have a "I go to UT, I'm super smart, I can get in anywhere" mentality and never study for the LSAT and end up at Baylor.

LOL @ that. No one who's all that smart would take a cold LSAT.
That said, I definitely heard my fair share of 'did you study?; Nah bruh, fuck that' conversations at the on-campus test site...

Fair point. Perhaps I just don't want to allow for that, given the amount of studying I put into my still relatively middling score...

About 20 mins ago, I got an email about facebook page for class 2018.
Does this mean I got admitted? (My name is not specifically mentioned in the mail)
Yep, you're admitted! Congrats. What I got was 1) phone call 2) email about Facebook 3) status checker updated (a couple days later).

Thanks for the info! And, sure, maybe a 167 is "relatively" middling on TLS, but you should be proud of such a good score.
fingers crossed and phone nearby for the next few days...

Not all OOS get the request. I think it's pretty objectively a good sign; at least last cycle, all the people who were asked to submit one and did so were accepted.

I need to stop checking this forum. I got a Why Texas? right before Thanksgiving, got admin dinged, and now I'm back under review. I thought I wrote a great Why Texas? but it seems to be the opposite. They hate me!

I am in the same situation.
Why Texas=>Administrative error=>Reconsider again
What does your status checker say?
Mine says denial even after Dean Ingram accepted reconsideration request.

It'll stay at denial until you hear back after the reconsideration, mine was updated about an hour after I got the call!

I mean thats not precisely true. Nobody who is educated about the LSAT would take a cold LSAT but plenty of people who end up with decent scores don't do enough research the first time around.
Soooo true. I know a large handful of people who took the LSAT one time, scored between 158-164, and were completely content and applied. There isn't a "retake" mantra IRL

True - I guess if you don't appreciate the huge difference in outcomes between various schools, it would be pretty easy to view the LSAT as pass/fail, i.e. "If my score gets me into law school, why retake?"

Dinged. Out of state. Median LSAT; Above GPA. PhD/MA holder. Berkeley restored the balance of the universe by accepting me minutes after UT said no.

Well that's about the best possible way to soften the blow - congrats on Berkeley!

Someone earlier had luck with requesting a reconsider, if TX was a serious option for you. Congrats on Berk!

Mine went from "Your JD application was processed on October 22, 2014 and is currently being considered for Regular Decision" to "Decision Rendered" back to "Your JD application was processed on October 22, 2014 and is currently being considered for Regular Decision."
