Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
That's kind of genius. I assume once someone has been admitted they probably don't stalk their status checker, it's possible that it's gone unnoticed. Not that GT's status checker is of much help anyway.sneakyleo wrote:At some point after I was admitted, I checked my status checker, and I noticed that under "Requirements List," it had "Official Final Undergraduate Transcript" and "Certification Form" listed. I think those items are new since I was admitted (especially since they wouldn't require an official transcript before admission), though I guess you could check if they're already listed on your status checker. If not, that might be a non-snail mail way to find out if you're admitted?taptaptop wrote:My mailbox has been having trouble receiving mails, I have no idea why but I haven't been able to receive mail from people for a really long time. And I emailed georgetown about my situation and see whether there is another way to find out if I'm admitted, they told me that all decisions will be made within 12 week and that I should contact them around the end of Jan. Well, that is just torture.
So I'm wondering whether there will be another way to find out my application status so that when I find out I'm admitted, I can go to my city's post office and take care of it to make sure I don't fail to receive any possible mails.
Thanks for the possible tip! I'll add GT to my list of schools that I obsessively refresh

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
Hey all,
Received the following email today:
"Dear Mr. xxxxx:
Thank you for participating in our interview process for Georgetown University Law Center. Although the record you present is a strong one, the Committee on Admissions has chosen to postpone your final decision.
Each year, a large number of candidates submit applications to Georgetown Law early in the process. The high quality of this group makes the Committee's decisions extremely difficult. Please be aware that only a small number of early applicants have their applications held, and a number of those applicants in past years have subsequently been admitted.
Once we have a better sense of the entire applicant pool, the Committee on Admissions will review your application again. No additional information is necessary, and the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) will continue to send us updates, which we will add to your file. A final decision will be made no later than Friday, January 30, 2015.
On behalf of the Committee, we appreciate your patience and continued interest in Georgetown."
My thinking is: If they wanted to reject me they would have just done it already. Does anyone have any experience with being "postponed?" Any thoughts on writing a LOCI after being postponed?

Go through last years thread. There were a number of those last year. No idea if people wound up getting in or not, but if people did I'm sure it's somewhere in that thread.

Agree with you on Gtown being more than just numbers based. Obv still important but when I went to an information session Dean Cortblatt made it very clear they look at all factorsBFrazer05 wrote:Hey all,

My numbers are pretty low -- I'm below 25% GPA and right above 25% LSAT, but have a lot of strong softs (Truman Scholarship, competitively successful college debater, very strong upward grade trend, B.S. in a challenging degree program, REU student, lots of volunteer work, etc.), so I'm pleased I wasn't rejected outright. I think GULC is honest when they say their acceptance process isn't merely a numbers game
