Question: How many of you would take Columbia with $$$ over HYS?

Depends how much $$ we are talking. I still have some non-big law aspirations so it would take a fairly large sum to steer me away from HLS. I can't be sure unless it were real, but I know for sure it would have to be greater than 50%. Probably more like 75%+ which is unlikely for me.

Maybe like 70-100k. Idk I think I would consider Colombia if that was the case. What are your non-big law aspirations?

I think at the end of the day I would choose HLS , but I may be singing a different tune after I actually sit down and do the math on repayment. I'm waiting to do all the number crunching until I have actual numbers and options. I'm going to look at what the monthly difference will be over 10 years. If Harvard and CLS+$$ end up being options, I'll have to decide if the increased cost of HLS per month will be small enough that it's worth it to me.

I'll PM you on the non-Big Law stuff. It could give me away as it has come up during my interviews and it's fairly specific.

And on the Columbia vs HYS note, I have no clue what I'd do. I think a lot will actually come down to the feeling I get from ASW's (if CLS is even an option). I loved Columbia when I visited though, so it would be a really tough decision.

Also I'd like to suggest that when the time comes that LS22 could look into creating a spreadsheet that would calculate cost of attendance for various schools

I feel like Regulus did something like this last year with a sheet that included various repayment options, but I don't remember where it is.

I'm going the LRAP route, but man it would be nice to not have to worry about that for 10 years. So basically, I think what would pull me away from HYS would be a scholarship such that I could pay the remaining stuff back on a shorter than 10 year plan on a non-BigLaw salary.

No real reason. Just feel like it will be a full two weeks since the first acceptance wave, and if you take out Thanksgiving week then this week will be two business weeks after.

went to the info session today. FWIW, the woman speaking seemed to suggest that they were looking at RD apps now and that the rest of the ED decisions should be going out within the next week or two.

BrainG you seem like a good guy but this update is really not worth much. If decisions come out two weeks from now, it is essentially just Columbia holding itself to it's own terms, by offering ED applicants a decision by late December. If the decisions have already been made to the point that they're looking at RD applicants, only my cynical side can think of a few weak reasons why they would wait to release them. It simply doesn't make sense for them to wait if they respect their peer schools.
