Crap! I had a fear that I shot myself in the foot with my hurried and internet-sabotaged interview and today's waitlist spot confirms it (or maybe it's just my horrible GPA, but I really was feeling positive about WFU until the interview).
I really thought Wake might be a top option for me because of the friendly financial aid; does anyone know if they are willing to give scholarship money to waitlist admits?
Most importantly: congrats to all the new admits!

Is the deadline really April 1? Part of me wants to email them and ask if it's the 1st or the 15th.. the 15th makes so much more sense. Plus if you've just been admitted, then the ASD is AFTER the April 1 deadline, while all other applicants were given the opportunity to attend an ASD before the deposit deadline.
Thoughts? ?

Yeah I totally agree with this. I feel like every other school is the 15th. I'm not even expecting to hear back from a few schools until after April 1. The days between April 1-15 will be crucial for me personally, as I know you guys are probably going through the same thing. Worst comes to worst, if you have already attended an ASD, the deposit is only $200, so I will most likely just throw them the $200 and if something better comes up, then I will cancel my seat. No ideal and it seems super inefficient, but we may have no choice.olivians wrote:Is the deadline really April 1? Dean Shively,
Can you give us any formal directions for the LOCI? I know some schools rather it be via snail mail and some prefer e-mail. To whom should we address it to? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yeah my only thing is that I live in France right now so going to an ASD is pretty impossible... not sure if I'll hear back from other schools until April 1st and just wish I had the time to make the best decision!

According to http://admissions.law.wfu.edu/apply/, the first deposit deadline if you have a scholarship is Apr. 1st. It is April 19th for students without scholarships.

Unless you're registered for the April 5 admitted students day, in which case you can make your deposit that day.nutininut wrote:1st Deposit deadline for ALL accepted students is April 1st.

Re: Wake Forest c/o 2016
TLSers~
My view on a couple topics of recent interest:
DEPOSITS
First deposits are due April 1 unless you are registered for and do, in fact, attend the April 5 ASD. If you are in attendance at the April 5 ASD, you may bring your deposit with you that day and submit before 5pm to the Office of Admissions.
April 1 is the first date under the LSAC Statement of Good Admissions Practices that schools are allowed to require seat deposits. Historically, April 1 has been a very popular deposit date although April 15 and even later dates are not uncommon. In the past we've tried later deadlines but it just makes it more difficult to fill seats if applicants opt not to attend and the only way we can determine appropriate next steps regarding our applicant pool is to require deposits with strict deadlines. So, before anyone asks we won't extend deadlines to accommodate other schools. Instead I invite you to pressure them to provide earlier decisions. It isnt' fair to others in our pool who may be affected by deposit deadlines to ask them to wait while other schools drag their feet. We work very hard to be responsive and decisive and our applicants benefit by our effeciency.
If our seat deposit presents an economic hardship for you and you are prepared to make a final commitment to Wake Law, I can provide a mechanism for making a final commitment without a monetary deposit. Contact me directly if this is your situation.
We have decided to make $100 of the seat deposit refundable this year if applicants inform of us of a decision to attend another school before June 1. Of course, we hope that you decide to join us, but we realize not everyone will make that choice. Our goal is to minimize the negative impact on you of having to make early deposits and provide incentive for you to keep us informed as your process evolves.
LOCI (Letters of Continued Interest)
I am all for LOCI. They help me know who is really interested in being here. I take them very seriously, and I ask that you do the same. I love to hear if we are your first choice and will often move those folks to the top of my list. However, nothing makes me more sour than to read your LOCI explaining your deepest desire to attend Wake Law and to have my follow-up phone call answered with the deafening sound of your backpedaling when I suggest an offer of admission. An LOCI is really only appropriate if you are prepared to accept an offer. When an offer is made you'll be expected to respond within 24 hours and really at this point in the cycle there's likely little scholarship money left. So, while some waitlist candidates may get a scholarship offer, if you are writing an LOCI you should carefully consider what you'll need to attend.
Mail or email are fine for LOCI. If emailing I'd say send them to me directly (shivelrj@wfu.efu).
Let me know if you have any questions about anything here.

Since I got in, Wake has been tied with another school for my top choice. This definitely makes me like Wake even more.FacePalm wrote:Does Wake's rise in the 2014 US News rankings change the equation for anyone?
