It's 50º outside and I want to die. I don't know if Minnesota is in my future.

It's funny to read that. It's 35 degrees here today and everyone is talking about how beautiful the spring weather is.alwayssunnyinfl wrote:It's 50º outside and I want to die. I don't know if Minnesota is in my future.

Really- MSP is a great city- full of "Minnesota Nice" progressive people who tolerate January and celebrate April-October. Personally, I can't wait for the hot, unfriendly confines of Williams Arena.

The skyways are also pretty cool. You can walk around downtown Minneapolis in the winter without a jacket.

So. ASW this weekend. With the snowstorm that hit Minneapolis this week and the slightly above-freezing temperatures the rest of the week, it should be a slush-filled mess of fun. Any masochists out there making the journey?

With my unexpected acceptance to WUSTL, I am planning to negotiate with whatever scholarship I receive from them.

Does anyone know if Minnesota is willing to negotiate at all?

at ASW they seemed to indicate that they would not negotiate anything. TBH, I don't entirely understand their criteria for scholarships.. it doesn't seem to be numbers-based, at least not significantly soNIUmelk wrote:Does anyone know if Minnesota is willing to negotiate at all?

I've heard conflicting answers to this question. My advice is to try, nothing to lose.NIUmelk wrote:Does anyone know if Minnesota is willing to negotiate at all?

They rarely negotiate.
They almost definitely will say no at first. Youll probably have to bug them a few times.

That is disappointing.Nova wrote:They rarely negotiate.

Which isn't to say that I'm upset with my initial offer, just that I have a strong feeling WUSTL is going to outpace it, possibly by a significant amount...

WHOA. Just got a call from the admissions office and I'm off the WL and accepted! There is hope for the sub-167s among us yet! Official info and scholly offer (fingers crossed) comes next week.

Have you received your WUSTL offer? My WUSTL offer was solid, but Minnesota's was still substantially better.historicrep wrote:That is disappointing.Nova wrote:They rarely negotiate.

Thanks! I couldn't really understand him super well at times but it almost sounded like I cajoled him into admitting me right there over the phone haha. Anyway, if you got WL'd I would say follow up and really let them know you're interested because it may work in your favor!dykstaab wrote:Congrats!romanticegotist wrote:WHOA.
