I'm in the same exact shoes. I'd like to not pay two deposits but also I'd like to get more money from BLS.

I asked for institutional grants or loans instead of more merit aid and it did not go well. Gonna call anyway and ask if there's anything else available. I (legitimately) have a really low EFC.

I would just go to BK. its practically regarded the same in the NYC market as long as youre in the top of your class and if they are giving you more money then yeah.

Has anyone else not heard from Cardozo? I have a 3.5/167 and while I applied pretty late (went complete in early March), I've heard from almost everywhere else. Are they potentially sitting on some decisions until after deposits are due?

I sent a letter asking for $ a few weeks ago and my $ was raised from 10k to 15k. Today I got an email from St Johns Univ saying that my scholly has been upgraded to almost full ride (15k more than previous offer). Do you guys think that I should ask Cardozo one more time for more $?? Thanks

There's really little to lose, however the dean emailed me back today saying there is no more scholarship money at the moment. The dean also basically told me at the admitted students day that St. John's is not comparable because of the 40% stipulation and the difference in rank (40 ranks difference).

I did however get 10k more using a much higher offer from Brooklyn. Now Brooklyn's offer is only 8k more per year.

Yo you definitely should. I withdrew today. I'm assuming a bunch of other people did as well. I know I gave a little bit of money back into the scholarship fund so you should be able to squeeze something out if you ask within the next few days.

Just a note- most law schools don't have a "scholarship fund" per se, if they do it is usually funded by alumni and not large; law schools run on a system of cross tuition subsidization wherein students in the 25th percentile subsidize scholarships for students closer to the 75th percentile. Scholarships are granted to meet market price, law schools aim to keep revenue as high as possible while recruiting the most qualified students. What all this means is that people withdrawing don't necessarily add any greater chance of increased scholarship funding unless the revenue yield falls below a set number, in which case the process would start over again.
