I just got my acceptance letter today and was really excited when an email about my financial aid also came in. But it's only the federal loans. Aaaaawesome.

Waitlisted. 2.75/158 - Non-URM but pretty interesting/very unique softs.
I'm actually pretty stoked to have even been waitlisted, this was a reach for me with my numbers and how late I applied!

Waitlisted, withdrew...bit of a stretch for my numbers, and can't justify paying AU sticker with D.C. living expenses.

Was anyone at last nights accepted students event for part-time students? I was favorably impressed and it put AU at the top of my list. Curious as to others impressions (also curious as to whether or not there were other TLS'ers in the room).

Accepted in early February, shortly after applying in January. Just accepted to UNC and deciding to stay in NC and go to Carolina.
Hope one of you can take my seat!

Same here. I was totally thinking I was not going to American before (nothing against the school, it was just wasn't on my radar)...but now I'm pretty sure I will.z0rk wrote:Was anyone at last nights accepted students event for part-time students? I'll be doing some class visits next week and I'll let you know how it goes!TIKITEMBO wrote:Did it seem to anyone else like American's students were a bit young? I sort of got that impression (I'm in the mid-20's range). Quite a few people seemed giggly and unfocused in the class I observed. I really would love to go to American, but I hope I was mistaken. Anyone have different experiences?

I sat in on a first year con law class. No one was giggly, everyone seemed focused, and the discussion was very engaging.
Do you mind sharing what class you took?

People seemed a little on the young side to me at the ASD. I was a little surprised, but I think it was just a skewed representation at the event. I haven't been to any classes so I am not sure what the true make-up is.TIKITEMBO wrote:Did it seem to anyone else like American's students were a bit young? Re: American c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
im on the waitlist. is it worth it to visit in person to show i care? i am not close to DC and will have to fly a few hours. not to mention the cost.
when i called to ask about visiting, they did not seem too enthusiastic and i was told that i will not meet anyone from admissions. so what is the point in going? i dont want to see the school, i want to go only if it increases my chances of getting off the WL.
thanks

Can you please share your LSAT, GPA, other acceptances, approximate date you applied, approximate date you received your WL answer, and program to which you applied?Gavel wrote:im on the waitlist. is it worth it to visit in person to show i care? i am not close to DC and will have to fly a few hours. not to mention the cost.

Visit D.C. but also maybe think about visiting other schools too in the area.. You can also take a train to NYGavel wrote:all on my profile. Applied full time.z0rk wrote:

Did they say anything on the phone about how they handle their waitlist process? They have special visitor sessions just for waitlisted applicants, it's worth looking into that.futurejdgirl wrote:Visit D.C. but also maybe think about visiting other schools too in the area.. I wouldn't shell out money for an expensive trip if you feel it won't produce much results. If you think it is beneficial I would certainly do it, but if not I would try and express continued interested every 4 to 6 weeks by way of LOCI's.
Just something to consider, there are a lot of waitlisted applicants according to LSN: http://american.lawschoolnumbers.com/ap ... 1112/?&p=4 .
