The day laborer one was freaking brilliant.

And the Dean is more like a television character (think Newman from Seinfeld) than a person in that he doesn't really effect your day to day life except to occasionally pop in and do something windbaggish (i.e. talking about the last time he saw Ginsberg was at a lunch in a Vienna) or annoying (i.e. the lecture on ConLaw you get at orientation). Otherwise you don't see him/interact with him.

Status update. Submited 1/5, complete at 1/12, and just updated to 3/7. I'm guessing there will be some decisions within the next couple days? Anybody else see any movement?

I have been application complete since 1/20 and I'm getting discouraged.

I don't recall mine ever having a review status. In fact, the status checker for SMU doesn't seem to provide any info on mailings, scholarships, etc. either. I found out I was accepted via phone call.

I'm guessing that those who have been held for further review were done so during the Jan 31st releases (which were the ED and early RD applicants I believe). When did you submit?

I think you're in good shape. Like I said, I'm betting on more decisions coming either today or sometime next week based on trends of the past couple of years (knock on wood). It looks like the status date stays steady until they're about to render a decision, which historically happens every 5 weeks or so starting at the end of January. I'm sure there are other random decisions as well for auto-admits and auto-rejects though.

Also, anyone know what up the $4,700 in fees? Is any of this optional?

Anyone know anything about the Texas Equalization Grant? I went to high school in a different state but have been living in Texas for the past four years for college. Since I am now independent on the FAFSA, am I considered an eligible state resident? Does anyone know how much the grant even is? I know it took a beating in the last round of state budget cuts.

You would qualify, and the amount varies by some metic I don't know about. Expect around $3,000 a year.
