I was waitlisted at Duke and it's my top choice. Do I send a LOCI or a Why Duke essay first? If they offered me admission to the summer dual-degree program I would accept the offer on the spot, I take it that this is something worth mentioning in said letter?

Not basing this off of any research, but it seems to make more sense if you send in LOCI then Why Duke, or both together, rather than Why Duke and then LOCI.
I was wondering if you'd be willing to share your submit date? My #s aren't quite different (3.76/170), so I think a WL is hovering in the near future for me, too (1/10 submission).

3.76 is actually a decent bit higher than a 3.60 so you're probably safe. I submitted 12/7.jrose5 wrote:I'm sorry to hear about that.super6 wrote:I was waitlisted at Duke and it's my top choice. Add me to the list of the 170 Harvard rejects. Not surprised, shocked, or upset but I had to give it a shot.

Do they send rejections via snail mail? I'm hoping to frame mine.speedyj88 wrote:Add me to the list of the 170 Harvard rejects. Not surprised, shocked, or upset but I had to give it a shot.
edit - Rejected from Penn today.
Still waiting on on Cornell, Georgetown, Texas (OOS, so probably a reject), and UNC (!).

I'm still Complete 1/5 at Georgetown and Complete 12/22 at UNC. I was under the impression that I was an accept and an accept + $$, respectively. I'm growing impatient.

Honorary membership or not, that one point makes you very different!

Well I'm not sure about my debt aversion yet. I don't know my $ at Penn yet, but if we assume it's sticker price, then it's a tie between Penn at sticker, UCLA/Texas at a half-ish scholly, and Illinois on a full ride. Mayyyyybe Indiana on a full ride if their campus wows me + Illinois doesn't wow me.rli66 wrote:Congrats re: UCLA! That's great news! Where are you leaning now?

That is unbelievable. They would really have you find out through checking your status???? How unbelievably rude!!! What did it say? Please tell me it said something better than "rejected." I don't think it's appropriate for schools to update the online checkers until after they have informed you of the decision via email, phone, or several days after sending a snail mail letter. I'm sorry, I just can't get over this! I don't even check my online status updates very often (if at all). This is an abusive use of internet efficiency in my opinion.freskie wrote: No WL love here. Re: Club 170
They have issues with email. They rejected me twice because they said that some people hadn't received the first email. Thus it's unlikely they did that on purpose to you.Lisi wrote:That is unbelievable. They would really have you find out through checking your status???? How unbelievably rude!!! What did it say? Oh, they didn't do it to me...yet. I'm still waiting to hear from them. My app was complete on 1/18, and when I checked on 2/17, it said UR 2/16. Now it says UR 2/23 (and now I'm going to feel compelled to check the status updates weekly). I'm sorry they rejected you twice. I think they should consider working out their email glitches as a top priority. I know they don't mean to do it on purpose; I don't think they want to be harsh or mean. But it's still their responsibility... get it together, ya know?super6 wrote:They have issues with email. They rejected me twice because they said that some people hadn't received the first email. I got into NYU. This is the first place I've heard back from so far. It's very encouraging! I can see being very happy at NYU (I live in NYC now).

Never mind! Apparently it usually takes 1 month to go from Complete --> UR, then another month to go from UR --> decision. Thanks, anyway!jrose5 wrote:Hm.. am I screwed, then?
