Finally got through today. They told me that my application was complete and that a decision should be made within the next week - specifically in another four to five days. Though, they also told me the end of April so...

FINAL UPDATE:
Apparently four to five days really means four to five hours. Waitlisted as of today. I'll pursue the waitlist but I don't assume I'll get off the waitlist. Kind of super bummed because I just found out one of my really good friends from college is moving out to Tempe with her boyfriend this weekend because he just got in as a PhD English student. Ah well.

I applied for the first time last cycle and I was w/l to ASU and around this time in May I got a call from Ms. Soto that said I was accepted with scholarship So I had to defer and cancel my other plans to go elsewhere cause ASU was one of my top choices. There's hope!

From what I have gathered, no. Some live in apartments, some home, and others in houses throughout Tempe, Phoenix, and Scottsdale.

And while we are on the topic, anyone looking for a roommate for this coming semester? I looked at West 6th yesterday and am still amazed at the place. Only problem is I can only afford to split a 2 bedroom as the studios are way $$$$. PM if interested and I can provide any and all of the standard "stats."

There is a garage right across the street from the law school. The law school will be selling passes for this garage directly to the law students. I do not believe law students go through the same process for buying our parking passes as all of the UGs. They don't want law students to end up paying $35k/yr in tuition and parking out in lot 59.

downtown/central phoenix area would be my suggestion. It's going to be cheaper than Tempe, and the commute really isn't bad. Plus when you are interning, etc you will be much closer to the majority of the courthouses/firms/etc. Not to mention CenPho is a hell of a lot cooler than Tempe; but Phoenix is huge and diverse, so if you're not sure where you want to live, I would definitely suggest a visit and meeting a realtor. If you are interested in more details about Phx neighborhoods, I previously PM'd someone a breakdown of the areas where a student might be reasonably able to commute from, let me know if you want me to forward that to you.

I was also wondering what kind, if any, placement ASU has in California -- like LA, San Diego or LA. Is there a decent percentage of students who can get jobs in CA?

I've lived in Southern California my whole life; but I think I want to live somewhere different -- still with nice weather of course -- but then probably come back to live here eventually.

Perhaps, but I think consensus is that you'll have a much more difficult time than those who graduate from schools with a large alumni network in the area. California has A LOT of law schools. Aside from the fact that a lot of T14 grads move to CA, there are a lot of schools comparable to ASU, like USD, Loyola, Pepperdine (just to name a few).

I live in the family housing on the Poly Campus at ASU. It is about 30 miles east/SE of Tempe, but they have a nice shuttle (those huge tour busses) with free wifi that run on a decent schedule to get you there and back. There are, to my knowledge 5-10 of us law students living out here. Other than that, I don't think many people (if any) actually live in the dorms on campus in Tempe.

Based on years past, ASU probably won't really start pulling off the WL until late June to early July. I would not be terribly worried if you have yet to hear anything. I have no direct knowledge of this cycle though.

I called to ask about something my packet the other day and they told me that they are still accepting seat deposits, so my best guess is that they're not going to start looking at it for a while. Hang in there.

Some people report that it is hard, others report that it is easy. You just need to be diligent with moving everything here and cutting all de jure ties with your former residence. Close former bank accounts, car registrations, and try to notify former DMV that you are no longer a resident. Get all of these things new here as EARLY AS POSSIBLE- like right now. Try to show objectively that you will be staying here- concealed weapons permit that does not expire for 5 years, home mortgage, etc.

The people that are denied residency usually miss one of these steps. Be thorough.

Does anyone know how difficult it is to get residency for tuition purposes at ASU?

I made a trip to Tempe this weekend and they told me that they discuss the process at Orientation since half of the students are out of state. Joseph Lindsey made it sound like it was pretty simple, but there are a couple of things you have to make sure to take care of. For example, it might be more difficult for those who just graduated from undergrad because you have to be financially independent for two years. My parents claimed me as a dependent while I was in undergrad. Other than that, what everyone else has said seems to be true: cut off all ties with your state, change your license, registration, etc to show that you plan to stay in AZ.

On a side note, is anyone planning on applying for the support program?

Just got accepted, but without scholarship info I'm not sure if I should accept or not. I have a 20k scholarship to Chicago-Kent in Illinois and I've already put a $750 seat deposit down. How is the housing situation in Tempe, and would the heat be too much for a Midwesterner like myself?

Also just got in. Got the email an hour ago. No other information has been passed on to me beyond, "Yay you're accepted!" Considering I would only pay $10K a year at Ole Miss due to scholarships there I will be paying way more at ASU regardless of scholarship or not. But after the agonizing over the waitlist and a sweet LOCI (that I wonder how much helped?) I can't imagine not attending. Super stoked right now even if I have NO idea how to pay for the next three years, lol.
