Re: Temple 2011
It's bothering me that Temple's rank is right around PSU, Pitt and the other PA schools (besides Upenn) but that they are so much more selective. I guess the low tuition allows them to take a much better crop of students than they otherwise could.

Got a $7,500 a year scholly in acceptance packet.
I didn't even think I was going to get in. Only applied b/c of a fee waiver.

Is that per year or 7,500 over all three?

Per year and I'm OOS.

I just got my packet in the mail over the weekend: $7500/year and OOS. I have much better offers elsewhere and will probably withdraw this week. I hope this goes to someone else who wants it!

Does anyone know if you automatically qualify for in-state tuition after one year or do you still have to fill out that Pennsylvania resident application?

What's Pitt's stipulation? Did they say what the 2.5 average translate to a class rank? I know Temple curves pretty low.rs2004 wrote:not sure, still waiting to hear back from other schools and pitt gave me more money.mt1042 wrote:Congrats! pitt's stipulation is a 3.0 gpa or a "B" average.

Re: Temple 2011
I think it's much easier maintaining the 2.5 than the 3.0. Had this discussion with a friend who is a Temple grad this weekend. I think the 3.0 translate to a much higher class rank because they curve the median below 3.rs2004 wrote: i dont have the temple letter on my person but i do not think they said anything about class rank, just 2.5 average.

Temple gave me a nice valentine! In via status checker! Do you think I stand a chance of getting scholarship money? My #s are 3.82/164. I heard that they're rather stingy with in-state students (for obvious reasons)...

Re: Temple 2011
well, i would hope that i can maintain at least a 3.0 average either way. did a rough estimate of the cost of attendance for pitt and temple and at the end of the day, i would graduate with about $2000-$3000 less debt if i go to pitt (this is assuming that i get in-state tuition for both after my first year). i would have to visit the schools/hear back from my other schools to make my final decision.r6_philly wrote:I think it's much easier maintaining the 2.5 than the 3.0. Re: Temple 2011
you don't automatically qualify as a PA resident after one year. You have to have lived in PA for 12 consecutive months OUTSIDE of school (meaning you are not a student) in order to become a PA resident for tution purposes. I am a 1L at Temple and have a lot of friends who are dealing with this issue right now. Some went to undergrad and now law school in PA, but didn't take time off in between, and they still can't get PA residency status for instate tuition or work-study supplements through PHEEA.NJPharmD2011 wrote:Does anyone know if you automatically qualify for in-state tuition after one year or do you still have to fill out that Pennsylvania resident application?

Most scholarships with GPA requirements given out at Temple require a yearly GPA of 3.2 to maintain your scholarship. (Some people get scholarships with no minimum GPA, check with financial aid if you are unsure what your GPA requirement would be). If you got a scholarship with a 2.5 gpa requirement you are very lucky. You essentially would only need to maintain a gpa slightly below a C+ to keep it.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
