Also got placed in the special group on the preferred waitlist. Surprised that they say they'll let you know by March 22nd, which is earlier than most waitlists which say you won't know until at least May. I guess this makes it seem even more like a YP thing.

(My stats are 3.6/171)

also on preferred waitlist. A little shocked but really happy that this came after my acceptance to Harvard because now I don't care. It probably would have upset me last week. I definitely think it is YP. oh well, I will be withdrawing today. Good luck to everyone waiting to hear!

March 22, huh? That's pretty interesting. I'm in the special group as well but I've been in it since December. My email didn't say anything about that. That is weird since I emailed them a few days ago and they told me they probably wouldn't know more until their first deposit deadline April 1.

Ornbarn or anyone else in the special group, was there any other pertinent information in the email?

Haha, I do feel more than a little silly talking about this "special group." And I definitely don't feel like I was YP so I'm just trying to get a handle on what they're thinking.

Yeah, I'm just trying to have some fun with it. I'm actually rather distraught by this recent development. Maybe it's the same group but they just recently put a target date for decisions? Maybe it's a different group with more YP-ish candidates who applied late? Perhaps they've given out a ton of offers already and want to see how things play out over the next couple of weeks? It could be any of these things. Either way, I'm pulling for you Wellington. Your tar and name has spawned at least 15 minutes of targeted googling about beef wellington and where the heck I can get some. Beef in a pastry = best thing evar/glorified steak hot pocket.

I don't feel so bad knowing that Harvard, NYU and Columbia admits are in this "special waitlist" group with me. For a while I was wondering if maybe there was something in my app that Michigan missed but would be a turnoff to Georgetown and other T14 schools.

Georgetown is just not that into us, I guess.

There is no other important info in the email. Just that they'll update us by March 22.

Haha, me too. I'm about 99.9% sure I'm not YP (168/3.9) but I'm in the so-called "special group" that'll find out on March 22.

There is no other important info in the email. Just that they'll update us by March 22.

3.6 171, just got email for preferred waitlist at Georgetown. Wow, this really sucks, I was counting on Georgetown and I have no acceptances so far...

Don't worry, though. I'm sure you'll finish your cycle with a few nice admittances. And it's likely a few spot on gtown's waitlist will open up.

Any ED candidates that were deferred have their status' update since the deferral? I just went under review again as of today and was wondering if that meant we might hear before 2/26
