Hey guys, I haven't been active in this thread for a while, but I need some advice.

175/4.0/military, no word since going complete in early January. I have a few major application updates: I was named XXX of the year at my full-time job for 2012, named outstanding student of my UG graduating class, and am starting a new job teaching over the spring/summer (not TFA).

I have not been placed on hold. Should I send them an email with the updates or hold off for a LOCI if I get held?

Eh. See what happens tomorrow, but I'm more in the send it before the hold camp. Get their attention a second time before you go into the pile with many. Im in the minority though and understand why.

Az, I'm going to be honest bro -- you are overly engaged and pessemistic about your harvard app when it comes to the hold. Your bitterness about it is very understandable, but if I had to put money on it, I would say you will be in at hls by may. People are admitted post js1 after their app is held for further review. I really dont see your situation as anywhere near as dire as you present it each day ( stanford admit aside..) and I bet your interview wasnt nearly as bad as you say either; you are clearly extremely bright and accomplished. so perk up! and remember some people are actually thrilled about their app receiving further consideration

So.....extremely paranoid question: during your JS1, how did you guys prevent other Skype friends from chatting with you? Delete everyone on your contact list? If that little Skype noise goes off, I am going to be so embarassed lol.

Most adcomms do some forum watching during the cycle, although I think it may be a bit overblown on TLS. If you're very easily identifiable and schools can see your LSN account and whatnot they can often do a better job of YP'ing candidates they know won't attend and see scholarship offers at other schools before they actually make their offers. Whether all of this is just TLS paranoia is up for debate, but I think some of it is justifiable.

But who cares? Maybe in the Emory thread you care, but is HYS yield protecting? Given that several folks here who have posted their stats have gotten in everywhere, including Princeton and the University of Phoenix I just can't see it mattering.

I went to an event at the law school on my campus and the Dean of Admissions said she knew who I was on here. She didn't care, though, and I think as long as you're not being ridiculous there's no reason to worry.
