haha DDOS!
*edit* I want to clarify that I am in no way endorsing anything illegal, and DDOS attacks on websites (or black-faxes or constant calls from card-phones) are terrible and should be undertaken by nobody.

man i have to say, i really loved columbia at the beginning of this cycle, but after this experience with their lack of professionalism and boot strapping in terms of their admissions process, i really am starting to get pissed

Reserved. Would anyone mind skimming my ps and ds to see if there is anything horribly wrong to quash my worries?

Re: Columbia 2010
I've lurked for almost a year, but I believe I might be contributing something useful.
I called the Admissions Office this morning and simply demanded a decision (I am one of the April 21st RD holds--"...you will receive a decision from the Committee no later than April 21, 2010"). I wasn't exactly an asshole, but I felt justified enough in my stand to calmly explain that the fact that it may have been mailed was not sufficient.
Anyway, I was eventually told that we could request our decision by email. I realize I might have easily fallen for one of the oldest administrative tactics out there, but I went ahead and sent in my request. I'll update the minute I hear anything.
Hope this helps the insanely impatient among us. Thank you for all your support, TLSers. You carried me through my cycle.

If you get in, I bet there will be a raging torrent of emails/calls to that office.

Re: Columbia 2010
Were they annoyed that you were asking before the office closed on the 21st (meaning they still had time to email it to you within the time frame they promised)? It's not like they told you that you'd have it by noon on April 21...Zinoviev wrote:I've lurked for almost a year, but I believe I might be contributing something useful.

They handled the conversation pretty calmly, though I think there was a moment where they didn't quite know what to say.jimmyd11011 wrote:Were they annoyed that you were asking before the office closed on the 21st (meaning they still had time to email it to you within the time frame they promised)? Your point about the Office still having time to email me is a good one, and was what had me wait as late as I did, but in my conversation I could just read between the lines with the guy. The fact that we were discussing it being mailed, that he couldn't give it to me over the phone, and his general tentativeness created the clear impression that I've got a Reserve or worse headed straight for me (with no email notification). But don't think I won't be checking my inbox every 20 minutes for the rest of the day JIC.

Reserved.
Dear Columbia,
I really, really wanted you. I didn't even wait for a fee waiver. And I really thought I had a great chance. I have no idea what you found unsatisfactory about my application, but my LSAT and I are off to NYU now. Also, there are no tattoo parlors in Morningside Heights, which is pretty weak.

P.S. Thanks Joan!
Nice ruffly top in your selftar btw.
P.P.S Sorry Core
I was rooting for you.

They accepted two holds, one from ED, on 4/12 and 4/19 respectively. http://columbia.lawschoolnumbers.com/ap ... ype=jd&p=3starsong wrote:Maybe they're really not going to accept any holds this year...
Those are the only ones I've heard of so I'm beginning to wonder if there was a mini-batch earlier in the month and that was that.

Re: Columbia 2010
Yeah that's what I meant. These looked like two very special cases at first, since last year's hold acceptances came in a slew of e-mails on one day. But maybe those two were the only hold admits this year.PoorOrpheus wrote:They accepted two holds, one from ED, on 4/12 and 4/19 respectively. http://columbia.lawschoolnumbers.com/ap ... ype=jd&p=3starsong wrote:Maybe they're really not going to accept any holds this year...

Yep. Complete 1/11 if I recall correctly. I haven't heard a word from them. Some closure would be nice.drpc87 wrote:r6_philly wrote:You are not alone ...legalnoeagle wrote:Is there anybody that wasn't held that's still waiting for a decision?
