See, I definitely understand that it's a better school and it's obviously higher ranked....but American really draws me in with the DC location and the international law program. Regardless, I suppose it's not really an issue since I was waitlisted there.

Got a letter with a full tuition offer but the top 1/3 stipulation. Very excited as I was borderline for such an award. Anyone know what the cost of living is in Iowa? Also did you see non-res tuition went up 4k between last year and this year, thats more than 10%!

January 11, and the scholarship came in the mail Friday. So about a month later.

Iowa prank called me at 6:30 this morning. I knew the number from when I called them to visit a campus tour but they didn't leave a voicemail, haven't sent an email, and now this is driving me crazy. I'm currently under second review and wish I would have had my wits about me to answer the phone! Has this happened to anyone else?!

Anyone have any information on Iowa's second review status? I received an email that says that I'll be reviewed again later. Is this a hold? A nice waitlist? I'm kind of a longshot, I'm just wondering why they didnt just ding me.

I got turned down cold when I asked about negotiating aid. Might be because my numbers aren't super but she made it sound like it was policy not to negotiate.

The 1L I have been in contact with says his 1bedroom is 480/mo and from my research it looks like rent has actually gone down this past year, but by Summer who knows?

So maybe their whole "applications are up 60% (at this time)" really didn't add up. Perhaps they got even less applicants than last year? Or maybe less "qualified" candidates than they'd like to admit...hence all the second reviews and extension of deadline even though there are probably hundreds in second review right now...

I got that, too. I can't figure out why they would extend. Perhaps there's a dearth of quality applicants (maybe losing out to IU after they leapfrogged in the ratings?), and their looking for late, February LSAT takers.

I never got a hold email. I had to call and check my status and they said I was on hold for second review. That was a few weeks ago. She estimated at least a month before the reviews at that time. I wrote her again this morning and she advised that, "The Admissions Committee does not anticipate re-reviewing those on hold until late in the month of March."

Ugh. Looks like they REALLY don't want to admit people off the hold list and doing everything they can to get other apps in considering they extended the deadline and first deposits are usually due on April 1st. I guess we really are their "worst-case scenario."

I think the IUB jump in rankings plus the fact that IUB is throwing money at tons of applicants has Iowa a little worried because they compete for a lot of the same applicants (I think...?) so the extended deadline may mean they want more applicants with great numbers so they can possibly throw some full schollys at before taking some wait listers (I hope for the sake of those wasting away on the WL).

They are probably moving the deadline back because of the Feb. LSAT closures due to weather. OSU is doing this too.
