Hey, can you tell us more about the school/campus/what you learned?
Thanks!
I'm still in Miami, and typing on my phone, but I'll do my best.
I left my hotel in south beach at 12:15ish. It took me about 30 min to get to campus. I parked, went to the law building to get my parking permit from the recruiting/admissions office then ran back to my car. In the 15 minutes it took me to get back to my rental car I had already gotten a parking ticket. I got back to the office and the tour got underway. The guides were knowledgeble about the campus as you'd expect them to be. They showed us the career counseling office, the library, classrooms, and student organizations offices. After about an hour the tour ended and I then met with an admissions counselor and like I posted earlier, she went to great lengths to refute the section grouping rumor - apparently groupings are completely random. She said the south Florida legal market hasn't been hit so hard by the recession as to result in any offers being rescinded to grads entering the market after this year's graduation. She invited me to check out a symposium hosted at the school today on sports and entertainment law, but I wasn't able to make it.
The UMiami campus is pretty big, but very scenic. The school of law's building is right next to the main campus' library. It has three floors and wraps around a quad. It had a real good atmosphere and vibe.
And it was 85 on Thursday, for those making a decision based solely on consideration of climate. Gotta love Miami in February.
