I think it only took me a few days to get mine after I got the call. I'm out of state and it came much faster than all of the in-state packets I received.Torres1893 wrote:How long does it normally take to receive the letter/packet of acceptance in the mail?
Exactly. Email was short and to the point, and they replied back confirming receipt.BarMan wrote:For those who submitted a "Why Texas?" before being solicited to do so, how did you do it? Just as an email attachment to admissions?
I was also solicited to do so, and am struggling with an appropriate length. I've seen people say 250-300 range for most schools. Can anyone confirm for UT?AtSomePointItMatters wrote:Exactly. Are you OOS?BarMan wrote:Thanks guys!
Do you feel it's necessary to include an unsolicited "Why Texas" if I already alluded briefly to my interest in Texas in the personal statement? I don't want it to be overkill.

They'll solicit one from you if they're interested. For now it's probably overkill. Is it a reach for you (feel free to PM me)?BarMan wrote:S.Picquery wrote:Are you OOS?BarMan wrote:Thanks guys!

A 1-bedroom *anything* in central Austin? If you're financing COL through loans... yikes. I would save myself the commute and get a roomie or two.Torres1893 wrote:I got used to the idea I was going to be able to find a nice 1 bedroom apartment (or house tbh) for like $700-$800/month when I was looking for housing in Bloomington, IN. Now I'm disgusted looking at the prices for apartments for a semi-decent 1 bedroom in Austin, and I have to factor in Austin traffic.
You could lol or maybe a 2 bedroom splitting rent for 800 a monthTorres1893 wrote:I got used to the idea I was going to be able to find a nice 1 bedroom apartment (or house tbh) for like $700-$800/month when I was looking for housing in Bloomington, IN. That's what I love about these Austin rents, man. They get higher, and I stay the same wage.PrezRand wrote:You could lol or maybe a 2 bedroom splitting rent for 800 a monthTorres1893 wrote:I got used to the idea I was going to be able to find a nice 1 bedroom apartment (or house tbh) for like $700-$800/month when I was looking for housing in Bloomington, IN. Yea I guess that what I'm going to have to do. I thought about getting a roommate before, but I kind of wanted to live on my own the first year, and then try to find some friends to room with for 2l and 3l.PrezRand wrote:You could lol or maybe a 2 bedroom splitting rent for 800 a monthTorres1893 wrote:I got used to the idea I was going to be able to find a nice 1 bedroom apartment (or house tbh) for like $700-$800/month when I was looking for housing in Bloomington, IN.
