On LSN it looks like last year they only WL one ED application during the initial decisions (and I wouldn't be surprised if that person misunderstood the hold). No rejections came out til early February, when a big wave came out, and only one WL came out before mid-feb. The previous year there were a few rejections, but they shouldn't be too surprising (166/2.9; 163/3.7; 166/3.4) and one WL. After that, same thing: big round of rejections early Feb and WLs shortly thereafter.
I put down Waitlist on LSN, I didn't know how else to signify that I was denied ED. What is the proper way to do it?
imo, definitely not WL. To be clear: you were not WLed. It seems very likely you will be in the first wave of acceptances and receive something like 90k.
There really isn't a "right" way to treat this in your lsn profile, I suppose, but I think just leaving a note that your ED application was held is probably the best option. The only "problem" is for future people searching on mylsn for ed chances, but they count WL->AC as accepted, so there is no way to avoid that problem except to remove the ED from your profile and put that you originally applied ED but were held in your notes (maybe this is the best way?). I've put too much time into this response: whatever you want to do is fine! I just think WL is seriously wrong.
Basically what I did. I removed the ED and made a note about being held for RD.
I removed ED that's all. So the status now shows Pending. Thought that was the best way to reflect the actual situation!
Also, I feel like my question was misunderstood. I meant to ask was anyone rejected at this stage itself? Not for ED/RD, but from consideration for admission itself?

Hm, i personally kept ED on so the people next year can see who wasn't accepted that applied ED. You could always keep it pending and write HELD by northwestern under the additional info section. It doesn't seem like anyone was rejected this year or last year based on the data we do have.

I think putting a note in the additional info seems like a good way to go.

Are any of the 'Held' applicants going to write a LOCI?
I'm not sure if there is a point in me writing a LOCI just to tell them that NU is a great school and that I'd love to go there....I have nothing concrete specifically tying me to the school :/

Same. I feel like if you have nothing to really add it wouldn't help you but could maybe hurt you a little bit if you have typos, etc.

For those of us held from ED to RD, does anyone know if the status checker resets? Mine still says "Decision Letter Available within 24 hrs."
Thanks!

No, I don't know if it resets. Maybe it will reset in January. I just wanted to bring this out so we know when we should expect to hear. Trying to do god's work.
2013-2014 cycle: first post-holiday decision waves were 1/15 and 1/22
2014-2015 cycle: first post-holiday decision waves were 1/6 and 1/14
2015-2016 cycle: first post-holiday decision waves were 1/13 and 1/19 (ED round)
My predictions: January 11th and January 19th.

It seems they allocated a call session for the waitlist? Anyone calling to find out more information?
I just sent out a stupid long LOCI....hope it won't hurt my chances instead.
FYI, the office will be closed from Dec 22 to Jan 2nd.

If I understand previous posts correctly, there were no rejections coming from this year's ED yet? Unlike previous years, those who are not admitted are all put on hold, instead of a blunt rejection? I personally haven't heard anyone rejected from NU yet.

Also still at 'complete'. Wondering if everyone who will get a decision today has already had their status update?
