I really wish Yale would stop sending out those diversity emails urging URMs to apply. With my numbers, it's just cruel.

Anyone on here have any experience with the deferral process for Yale? I've got some questions and I'd love to be able to get some insight from those who have deferred before

Re: Yale c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I'm on a one-year deferral. YLS seems to be fairly generous with one-year deferrals, as long as you can articulate some reasoning for why you are deferring. If I recall correctly, I mailed them the various forms as well as an explanation of why I wanted a deferral. A week or so later, I received an email from Asha granting my request. For longer deferrals though, I understand they want a more specific plan, such as a TFA commitment.xnsch wrote:Anyone on here have any experience with the deferral process for Yale? Thanks! Seems like it was a smaller wave then.hammy393 wrote:5 people added to the group todayAnonHumanPerson123 wrote:Congrats to all those admitted today!
Is the Facebook group invite in the acceptance email? If so, could you give us an update on the number in the group (+ those invited) so we can have a sense of how big the wave was?

None reported on LSN. It seems the first rejection wave came out last year on 3/12, so we may have a while to wait.tinycatfriend wrote:Any dings yet?

Hmm. People can feel free to chime in as I am blind leading the blind, but I wouldn't email them. It'll draw attention to it.AllHailKingMao wrote:HELP!! I realized I have a small typo in my application!!! What can I do? Should I just email them a proper PDF or am I a goner already?
Is the typo in your PS or hidden somewhere less significant (like post-college activities)? I feel like if it's in the latter there's a lesser chance it'll kill your app.
I mean basically there's nothing you can do about it. Asha's really emphatic about avoiding typos, but maybe the right candidate could get away with it for a variety of reasons.
Sorry :-/

It's pretty insignificant, but it's in the 250 so it probably looks pretty obvious :/pretzeltime wrote:Hmm. (you're fine, one typo will not make or break you. I'm sure your 250 is stellar enough to overcome something so trivial. don't draw addtl attn)

Pretty such 90% of what I do on the daily is self-flagellation. Ah well.. I probably wasn't going to get in anyway, just sucks that I didn't notice it the bazillion times I reread my application.

I know someone who is deferring it for two years. Granted it is for a Rhodes, but it does happen!xnsch wrote:Anyone on here have any experience with the deferral process for Yale? I've got some questions and I'd love to be able to get some insight from those who have deferred before
