thought I'd update ya, just got an email back regarding my travel stipend. I replied to the email approving my $400 asking for more as it is an expensive trip coming from NY to which they bumped it to $500 so definitely worth asking.
Nice! Thanks for letting me know. Who did you email?

How does that work? aren't there registration deadlines for asw? do they just say, okay you're admitted but you have to come on a regular tour if you wanna visit...

I was excited to get the extra $ since I figured it would come out to me only having to cover like $50... apparently the under 25 fee for car rentals is going to cost me $70 more than I was expecting -_-

If anyone wants to take over as OP for the thread, PM me! I withdrew recently, which will hopefully free up some money for someone else.

Thanks again for suggesting asking for more stipend. They increased mine by $100 as well. It won't cover the rental car but I'm grateful it covers my flight and Airbnb. See you at ASW!

Yeah I wanted more.. but still grateful! I'm under 25 but not by a lot so the rental was like $10 more/day.

that's not too bad, for most places its $25 a day for me which is $100 since Im flying in Thursday morning and leaving Sunday evening but Avis only has a $60 charge but tend to have a little more expensive fee. Gotta constantly keep checking, just got a new reservation for almost $30 less than one I made a few days ago.

If anyone is planning on flying into Midway, I rented a car through Alamo and they didn't charge me the under 25 fee (and I am way under 25, I'm a K-JD) so either I got lucky or they don't charge it!

I would just double check that. I just looked at booking one through them (tho O'Hare not midway) and there was an underage fee so I would make sure everything was entered properly and it just isn't there, or if it is there and you just dont see it as a separate fee. Also I noticed that a lot of booking sites (expedia...) dont show company specific fees since it has no spot to enter age so it may not be added until you pick up the car

When I dropped off the car and looked at my receipt, there were only two main charges: the charge for the compact car (which, btw, they gave me a full sized car and didn't charge extra), and the charge for the insurance (it was $15 and I shouldn't have got it, but I was paranoid as it had snowed that night). The rest was miscellaneous taxes, each of them less than $5. I paid $40 total for my rental car. I should have paid $65-$70.

So, if people want to see if they have the same luck as me, I hope it works for yall!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
