Re: Emory Law c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Ok first of all I am operating under the assumption that you are one year out of undergrad and at this point in time are "equally" excited about both options. I can give some perspective as I am knocking on the door of 28 and had a similar choice at 23 (1 year out of UG for me).
First of all, what do you really want to do? I think this is a silly question and unfair to an extent as I didn't know what I wanted to do at that point in my life either. However do you really want to be an attorney an likely practicing some sort of law or a policy maker in education (to be fair I don't know what one does with a educational policy degree). If you can't answer that question, the better question in my opinion is "Would you forever (and think about this seriously) truly regret not doing one now over the other. It is unlikely you would go to Ann Ed policy program after your JD, so think about the value to yourself there.
Next, what are the costs? Full disclosure, I was lucky to be admitted to an Ivy school for my MA with a full scholarship and stipend and lived cheaply. So my true cost was pretty close to opportunity and a few thousand my parents kindly helped out with. If you have to take on much / any debt for the MA and truly want to do law school, you may have to choose one or the other unless you have a trust fund.
Let's start there. Feel free to PM me if you prefer

Re: Emory Law c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I've repeated this (with some variations) a few times, but since you asked -- last year I applied relatively late in the cycle, was accepted with basically one step under a Woodruff, deposited, then was forced to withdraw as second deposit approached due to an illness scare in my family. This cycle I applied several months earlier, with no improvement in numbers, resume, and still without a Woodruff application, and was offered a slightly larger scholarship.GnosisExchange wrote:I know this is a rather silly problem in that I am fortunate to have been accepted not only to Emory but also the grad schools, but I would really appreciate any advice.
I was extremely nervous when I received the acceptance packet for a similar reason, but my fears were unfounded.

In with 111,000 Scholarship. Does Emory negotiate? Has anyone here had success?

Why are some people getting emails and others having to wait for snail mail?

Emory doesn't negotiate - they'll give you what they give you.sxyrylqq wrote:In via e-mail. Complete 1/7, said they are still figuring out my scholarship. would it be useful to use other full rides to negotiate with emory?

If I had to guess, these are splitters / borderline applicants. I went complete/ applied at the same time as these individuals yet heard back (was admitted) almost a month ago.shineoncrazydiamond wrote:Also curious about this! You're right. I'm a splitter, was expecting another waitlist!JDilemma wrote:If I had to guess, these are splitters / borderline applicants. I think I just beat the record of "snail mail". Received an email that an acceptance packet is on the way on Feb. 11th, receive the packet on March 16th lol. The stamp shows that the packet was re-directed from Paris on Feb. 16th (I'm an international applicant). Still felt good to see the dooley though!

Has anyone tried to negotiate a scholarship and gotten a reply?

Regarding the new poll - the ASD is mostly on the 2nd (saturday) not the first. I think there is a mixer or something on the first, but that's it.

Priority waitlist via email. I'm considering it, but I'll probably withdraw.

Same. Applied on the late end (end of February), GPA a tiny bit below median, LSAT >> 75th.BirdLawExpert wrote:Priority waitlist via email. I'm considering it, but I'll probably withdraw.
