Any word on scholarships yet? Unfortunately, I have a feeling it's still premature...

Judging off last year's thread, they should start handing out interviews for top contenders within the next couple of weeks if they keep a similar format to last yearWatchClosely wrote:I wrote the additional application for the Vanderbilt named scholarships. Does anybody know what month these are generally distributed?

Dean's list is almost always in the low 3.7 range. I would guess median is a little higher than 3.15 and closer to the 3.3 range.adil91 wrote:I'm interested in this as wellBig Red wrote:As a general range, where would you guess the curve typically sits for median, top 1/3, and dean's list? So I went back through the status checker (shocking, I know) and have a blank entry under mailings, dated 01/19/2016. Does anyone know what this could be? The optimistic side of me wants to think scholarship but... the realist in me thinks it's an error. Does anyone else see this on theirs?
Edit: It was actually probably me registering for ASW. I thought that was on 1/20, but it may well have been 1/19. Never mind....

I just got an email from them that said they'll award scholarships in late February, but last years thread showed applicants receiving scholarship offers in early February if I'm not mistaken. Hopefully they follow the same timeline this year!kylethedog wrote:Judging off last year's thread, they should start handing out interviews for top contenders within the next couple of weeks if they keep a similar format to last yearWatchClosely wrote:I wrote the additional application for the Vanderbilt named scholarships. I'm in the same boat and honestly I have no idea either way. I'm considering sending a quick email asking if they're missing anything from my application*, but that might do more harm than good if I'm on the fence for any reason.WatchClosely wrote:I went complete 12 weeks ago and still haven't heard back. I assume that no news means bad news at this point.
*Actually thinking about doing this for all of the schools where I've been under review for more than 10 weeks with no word, but like I said it might not be a good idea.

You haven't gotten a UR notification or anything? I went complete around 5 weeks ago and still not UR. Hopefully I don't have to wait 12+ weeks to hear *anything*.BirdLawExpert wrote:I'm in the same boat and honestly I have no idea either way. "Application Complete - 11/5/2015"
I interviewed some time around November 15th.
The banner across the top reads
"Our selection process includes detailed review of individual application files by multiple readers, as well as comparisons of files completed at different times. This “rolling” process allows for extending the time frame of consideration for individual files when necessary and ensures that each file receives full and fair individual consideration in the context of the applicant pool.
Although we act on individual applications as quickly as possible, the time required to reach a decision varies from case to case. In general, decisions on files completed and submitted for review in September and October are normally rendered from December through January. Decisions on files completed in November or later are normally rendered eight to twelve weeks after the date on which the individual file becomes complete.
Interview Participants: Once your interview has been completed and submitted by your interviewer your application review will be expedited."

FWIW, my status checker never said "under review" before I got in, just "Application Complete".WatchClosely wrote:At least you're not alone in being 12 weeks under review. Mine reads identically. Pretty sure I saw a bunch of fedex boxes at the front desk on Thursday. Could be a round of black boxes. Or they could have been something delivered to the law school.

I feel like I got a quick decision because they felt bad for me. I went through like 4 weeks of them trying to set me up with an alumni interview but whoever they were reaching out to locally never responded, so I finally just did a Skype interview with the lady from the admissions office who sets up the interviews, and then got my acceptance a week later.BirdLawExpert wrote:Thanks! I have the same blank entry under mailings dated 1/29. I, too, recently registered for ASW and was wondering the same thing. Did you actually receive anything in the mail? I had almost the exact same story as you, same submission time and interviews and only recently heard back. I think they are just ungodly slow/disorganized. Looking at your LSAT though, you shouldnt have any problems getting in, so I wouldnt worry (annoying as it is).
