I know that is less than ideal but it is still a good sign that they value your application!

5 letters of Rec may be a bit much, unless it's a Penn-specific one. The last thing they want/need are five letters saying fundamentally the same thing.

I am a fellow applicant like everyone here - so not qualified like a Spivey type - but seems to me that even four letters of recommendation is overkill. Five is absurd

pmcd88 wrote:I thought so too but my email didn't make it seem like a bad idea. Plus, again different people where I had different roles so it won't be as redundant as an undergrad or someone a year out with 5. But I think I will hold off
When I was waitlisted they took a fifth letter from me and did in fact recommend that I submit one. They also asked if I knew any alumni at the time--which I didn't. I personally don't think it is overkill to include the fifth if it adds something different but maybe they are looking for why that GPA is below the 25th. And the fact that you are held is a good indication that there are other things they are considering about you! Good luck :)

This is great, especially since I am also in the 11/30 UR1 crew

Nope. It seems like all the 11/30 people probably went to the same second reader.

Does anyone know if Penn tweets every time decisions are going to go out? Or is there some randomness thrown in there?
