I know that is less than ideal but it is still a good sign that they value your application!

First I refreshed my status page and it changed to ur3 12/15 with a new message at the top saying it was being held for further review. Then I got an email from admissions

5 letters of Rec may be a bit much, unless it's a Penn-specific one. The last thing they want/need are five letters saying fundamentally the same thing.

I am a fellow applicant like everyone here - so not qualified like a Spivey type - but seems to me that even four letters of recommendation is overkill. Five is absurd

Yeah - ultimately your call - do whatever you can to get that acceptance!

I thought so too but my email didn't make it seem like a bad idea. Plus, again different people where I had different roles so it won't be as redundant as an undergrad or someone a year out with 5. But I think I will hold off

When I was waitlisted they took a fifth letter from me and did in fact recommend that I submit one. They also asked if I knew any alumni at the time--which I didn't. I personally don't think it is overkill to include the fifth if it adds something different but maybe they are looking for why that GPA is below the 25th. And the fact that you are held is a good indication that there are other things they are considering about you! Good luck

I'm starting to believe my reviewer has been abducted by aliens (I'm part of the stuck on 11/30 UR1 crew). There couldn't be any other plausible explanation, like having a life outside of admissions or even dealing with those pesky ED applicants.

This is great, especially since I am also in the 11/30 UR1 crew
