Same here. Maybe they're doing it by LSAC number or when you applied?

Zero-hour app here; LSAC number sounds like the expected default.

Just received an email from "Root-Tilden-Kern Diversity Committee" inviting me to apply to Root-Tilden-Kern.
ETA: Expressed an interest in PI in my personal statement but no related experience.
ETA2: Probably because URM.

I'm hoping that means that there is a smaller than expected number of applicants so far this year.lc39 wrote:Just received an email inviting me to apply to Root-Tilden-Kern.
Or maybe you're just awesome?

Just edited my post with more info. It's probably because I'm MA. I won't be applying.tk17 wrote:I'm hoping that means that there is a smaller than expected number of applicants so far this year.lc39 wrote:Just received an email inviting me to apply to Root-Tilden-Kern.

Yeah I did too. I have some PI-related softs too, but I don't think that's the path I'm going to take eventually, so I'd feel bad applying.lc39 wrote:Just received an email from "Root-Tilden-Kern Diversity Committee" inviting me to apply to Root-Tilden-Kern.

I just think I lack the requisite experience and I definitely couldn't get a rec letter speaking to my commitment.LawBron James wrote:Yeah I did too. if you can log on to the admitted students site you're admittedbutSeriously wrote:You and I have interesting jobs Detroit; we're talking if we wind up at NYU.DetroitRed wrote: Nope. I haven't been called either. Then again, I work underground without a cell signal, so that's probably why.
Also, are they putting pple with WE last in line? It would make a little bit of sense to me, given there may be timing considerations at play.
This is me assuming that 12/1DLS+ASW => Admitted; please let me be right. : )

Bahahahah- I saw that and didn't even make the connection. My brain is fried...I've been on a special assignment for work out of town for three weeks and my days in the last week have been about 16 hours each...I need some sleep.lc39 wrote:Pretty sure this is the infamous pizza box + non-pizza contents that follows the initial letter. And yeah, this year's will presumably say c/o 2018.

Speaking of rtk, any one have any idea how many people apply each year? I've seen bios of people with similar backgrounds as me so I feel like I have a good shot but am interested in how many people are competing for the 20 spots. Also how many people interview.

I've heard they interview about 80 people, but I don't know for sure that that's true.w0w wrote:Speaking of rtk, any one have any idea how many people apply each year? I got the same email too! Which only confuses me - I thought all scholly essays/requirements need to be submitted with one's application... not afterlc39 wrote:Just received an email from "Root-Tilden-Kern Diversity Committee" inviting me to apply to Root-Tilden-Kern.

Got this too. Not a surprise, as I'm AA and I'm essentially a PI poster-boy. They seem pretty flexible with career paths which qualify as PI, and it's full tuition at NYU, so I'm going to go ahead and apply.lc39 wrote:Just received an email from "Root-Tilden-Kern Diversity Committee" inviting me to apply to Root-Tilden-Kern.

No DLS indicated. No ASWebsite access. ED applicant . Any thoughts on what this means? perhaps the absence of DLS means they haven't gotten to me yet? or should i give up hope and move on

if you hide things in the spreadsheets, it doesn't just hide them for you, it hides them for everybody, and then it messes up the data. PLEASE DON'T HIDE COLUMNS IN THE SPREADSHEETS
(don't mind me just spamming this everywhere bc it's messing up literally every single spreadsheet right now)

don't freak out, doesn't mean anything
12/2 first wave of admits
12/10 submitted anbryce
12/10 decision made
12/11 DLS/ASW/call
95% sure the anbryce had nothing to do with it, my numbers were strong for nyu anyways
but i included it because if you're really nyu or bust and you have the time to spare, you might as well try to get more writing in front of the adcomms

Re: NYU c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015)
any idea on the window given for acceptance of a furman academic scholarship or if it's even possible to apply for this post-app submission?
i went back to my submitted app to see if there was a way to write the necessary essay. didn't see a way. however, i noticed the phrase: "If invited, I will be available for interviews in March or April. I understand that offers will be made shortly after the interviews, and if I receive an offer, I will accept or decline the scholarship promptly." i just wonder what 'promptly' means here. if they mean within two weeks, or something like that, i likely wouldn't feel the need to go through the work of finding a way to submit this essay post-admission, given that there's no obvious way to do so.

You can just email the admissions office. Say that you've decided that you would like to apply for the furman scholarship, and ask if they would still be able to accept the additional essay. I had a couple of similar questions and they were very friendly about it.foamborn wrote:any idea on the window given for acceptance of a furman academic scholarship or if it's even possible to apply for this post-app submission?

Not sure if this is exactly what you're asking, but I believe that, when offers are made after the scholarship interviews in late March, you have three business days to accept or deny the offer.
But that wouldn't be until April. Considering admits are being encouraged to apply to the RTK post-admission, I'm sure they'd accept your essay for the Furman if you expressed interest in applying.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
