Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
For those who have done group interviews, did you all get the thank you email from Dean Cornblatt? Are any of you responding to it or just waiting for the decision? I'm a bit borderline for GT and a response could give me a chance to mention a few Why GT points that I couldn't work into my app, but I don't want to go over the top by replying to a very form thank-you...

I wrote a thank you note by hand and mailed it in, but I was able to get a few 'why GULC' quips in there.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
I don't see the need to respond really, it was a form letter that I'm pretty sure was sent to everyone who group interviewed, so there's probably no need to spam the Dean's inbox with extra material. I could be wrong, but I doubt a thank you note is make or break, even with borderline numbers.bethesda wrote:For those who have done group interviews, did you all get the thank you email from Dean Cornblatt? Thanks for the idea! As LetsGoMets suggests, I doubt it will make my application, but it won't hurt either. Depending on just how quickly he makes these decisions and how slow the mail is, he might not even get it until too late. Oh, well. I'm so nervous with this cycle - just ready for it to be over!antiworldly wrote:I wrote a thank you note by hand and mailed it in, but I was able to get a few 'why GULC' quips in there.

Hey TLS community!
Applied to G-Town on Oct 14th... just got home from Alumni Interview. Went great!
I'm wondering if anyone has any idea of what the timeline is like for those of us who had an invitational interview? Will I be waiting till X-mas to hear back? Or does it move more quickly now?
Thanks!

Congrats!! I submitted on the same day, and have no idea what is happening to my application now. Why don't they actually use email or status checker??canadianbrother wrote:Submitted 10/22, Accepted 11/3. Came in the mail a week later though. No interview nor optional essay.

My alunni interview ended up being less about them asking me questions and more about them answering mine. It was laid back, candid and insightful. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just show you're interested. My acceptance letter was postmarked 3 days later.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
group interviews can be completely random - a bunch are offered to people that havent even applied yet, they reach out to top undergrad universities and set these up for anyone interested that will be applying this cycle. not so sure about the alumni interviews thoughWhiskeyAndCupcakes wrote:I am having trouble finding this information: any insight on how GULC determines who to invite to a group vs alumni interview, or is it kind of random/ interchangeable?Lions1913 wrote:Anxiously awaiting an alumni interview...any idea what it means to get an alumni and not a group interview (and vice versa)? I can't imagine it makes a difference, but I'm just curious. GTown is definitely a top choice, especially if they give me a bit of money to cover cost of living.

I didn't reply to that email after my group interview and was able to get in. I received the acceptance letter about 2 or 3 weeks ago (smallest letter I have ever seen)!bethesda wrote:For those who have done group interviews, did you all get the thank you email from Dean Cornblatt? Would anyone who has already been to a group interview be willing to say what the format/some of the questions were? I got an invite today for a group interview on Monday. You can PM me if you don't want to put it in the thread. TIA!

I had mine in late September. Its pretty basic stuff at the beginning, like tell us something interesting about you. But after that, its more integrative. You have to read particular scenarios, work within teams, and present your reasoning/analysis to Dean Cornblatt. Overall, its pretty easy. So there's nothing to worry about.Barbaroix2 wrote:Would anyone who has already been to a group interview be willing to say what the format/some of the questions were? Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
My mailbox has been having trouble receiving mails, I have no idea why but I haven't been able to receive mail from people for a really long time. And I emailed georgetown about my situation and see whether there is another way to find out if I'm admitted, they told me that all decisions will be made within 12 week and that I should contact them around the end of Jan. Well, that is just torture.
So I'm wondering whether there will be another way to find out my application status so that when I find out I'm admitted, I can go to my city's post office and take care of it to make sure I don't fail to receive any possible mails.

Complete 9/20-ish, Accepted 10/14 (just received the letter here in South America). Really nice note about my PS from Dean Cornblatt.
Any idea when scholarship offers should go out?
(edit: also curious, my GT status is still "Complete," doesn't mention acceptance or mailing.)

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
I feel your mail situation. My post office didn't forward my mail when I moved. On top of that I had to get my mailbox at my new place rekeyed. All in all I didn't receive at least two weeks' worth of mail. I contacted GT about my situation and they were super nice about it. I'm sure there's a mail fiasco every year. The post office isn't exactly the most reliable institution. I would suggest trying to get the mail situation figured out sooner rather than later. GT isn't the only one that mails decisions (Vandy and USC I know do). In my youth (read 7 years ago when I was 22) I stopped getting mail because I never checked it. All of my bills were paperless, and I had no need for coupons to the grocery store. If you're like me, that could be why you stopped getting mail. Or it could be the post office in your area is super slacker. In any case, probably best to figure out what's going on sooner rather than later.taptaptop wrote:My mailbox has been having trouble receiving mails, I have no idea why but I haven't been able to receive mail from people for a really long time.
