Haha yes this is from ATL. It's worth posting if not just for the fact that it is one of the nicest things on there about UVA. Much easier to succeed as a 1L in a supportive environment.Daily_Double wrote:RCO2012 wrote:For those of you who are admits. Here is a little glimpse of what you have to look forward to:

ATL wrote:The comments from current students at UVA paint quite the happy picture:
-UVa is simply a dream place to attend law school.
-It is simply the perfect combination between strong academics and a pleasant environment.
-It’s always weird to hear about how miserable my friends at other schools are, because life’s pretty good at UVA. It’s still a lot of work but the social and academic atmosphere is really great. They aren’t kidding with those quality of life rankings. Career Services has been really helpful, too.
-Law school doesn’t have to suck. If you can get in at UVA, then you should go to UVA.
-Non-competitive/non-cutthroat atmosphere. Professors are brilliant and incredibly accessible.
Is there something in the water there? This is just a representative sampling of comments, which were nearly unanimously positive. Good on you, Cavs. Your peer students at other schools must envy you.
I think I saw this quote in an ATL article a while back, and it is exciting to attend somewhere with such a great reputation, but let's not forget the context here; at the end of the day it's still law school and, even worse perhaps, the first year of experiencing law school is also the most important year of law school.

Of course, it's probably completely unrelated and I'm just paranoid.

Longtime lurker here - just wanted to ask something that might come as obvious. Before they interview you, they email you right? It's not like some out of the blue call.

Re: UVA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
That's correct. They will ask you for times that you are available, and it will be scheduled based off of those times. Welcome, by the way.qtclawyer wrote:Longtime lurker here - just wanted to ask something that might come as obvious. Before they interview you, they email you right? Regarding optional essays, did everyone write a why UVA essay? I hear they YP otherwise? Also hows the scholarship process work? Do you apply for them or is merit $ simply awarded with acceptances?

Checking in. And honestly, I talked about why UVA in my personal statement, so hopefully that'll suffice. If not, looks like I'm gonna get a hard YP to the face.paglababa wrote:Regarding optional essays, did everyone write a why UVA essay? I hear they YP otherwise? Also hows the scholarship process work?
