3rd reserve as well. Below both medians. I wonder how many people they're cutting with each new reserve invitation

Same here. At this point i feel like they're just humoring me. What are all of your plans at this point? Looks like i'm going to be taking the LSAT again and reapplying.

For all you waitlisters/reservists: from lawnet, current class size '16 is ~350 which is less than last year and would indicate the third reserve is not a total bluff. There may be two or three spots left to be had.

It was 353 (I believe) when we first realized we could check the number and it's sitting at 358 now. Unfortunately, I think 2-3 spots is probably accurate, unless the gap with last year's 368 isn't by design.

3rd reserve as well...at this point I had forgotten I even applied here. Would you guys realistically still commit to columbia if admitted a week before orientation? I already have housing lined up at the school I will most likely attend.

Thats a personal choice.. People jump ship as late as labor day.

Mono left UVA and an already paid housing deposit for CLS. So its been done and will be done again

I for one would - columbia is and has always been my first choice.

It's up to 359 :/ they might be targeting 365, though?

I've fully thought out the possibility of walking out of a classroom where I'm currently enrolled and breaking a lease. It'd cost around 15-20K (housing+tuition) and I'd be discarding a 100K scholly. To each his own. That's my answer to the ? and the product of my fanaticism...

Chiming in to add that I left over $1500 on the table at UVA w/r/t housing. Current housing options vs. potential is something to consider, but don't let it be the deciding factor. In all likelihood you're dealing with a financial difference WAY larger than what you'll lose in housing.

If you're not absolutely sure you'd attend if offered admission, drop off the reserve and move on with your life. Money is not coming anyone's way at this point, and they'll ask you a YP question if you get an interview.

Also, take this as hearsay and nothing more, and note this it is from a few years ago, but each reserve cut was rumored to be somewhere around half of the list. The idea there was that you had a first reserve of around 500, a second reserve in the low 200s, and a third reserve in the low 100s. They'd accept around 15 of the first reserve, five or six off the second reserve, and one or two off the third. Keep in mind that's older and the drop in applicants has meant an increase in waitlisting, so it's possible some pattern in the past no longer holds--they certainly used the reserve more heavily this year than they did in past years. Estimates of the size of the first reserve, however, have ranged between 400 and 800, so it's been very tough to try and pin down these numbers.

There isn't any harm in staying on if you're unsure (though I doubt they go to anyone at this point who hasn't made an effort to stand out to them). I'd only drop once you're certain you would no longer attend.

okay, do they have to tell us before school starts on the 15th? That is really soon. I would love to go to Columbia though and can easily move around plans. Just would love to finally know 100% where I am going.

last year it seems that people actually received their rejections after the 15th. i assume it is best to think of it like this: "if i am not accepted by the 15th i am not accepted."

can anyone figure out if those who were accepted last year off of third reserve ALL interviewed? it seems to me like time is running out for interviews in general.

Per earlier posts, they're admitted students with access to a student directory of some sort.
