No second interview for people who went JS-->WL. They've done them in the past but I have no idea if they'll do them again.

On the one hand, it would make sense for them to gauge if we're still interested and ask about our options like they're doing with some others.

On the other hand, since the interviews are over skype this year and also serve as a way to gauge interview skills, it might not seem fair to let us basically redo the interview after figuring out how to improve on our initial performances.

I don't think so.
TripTrip wrote:There was definitely a YP element in my JS1 earlier this week. I wasn't really expecting to have to show that I would take Harvard over a (non-existent) Hamilton.
Interesting. Bodes well for you.
helix23 wrote:What I am curious about is how they go about choosing which WL->JS1 applicant to admit.

Let's say a 3.8/176 decides to deposit elsewhere. Do they just grab the first WL app with similar numbers?
Maybe. Too bad all my numbers twins decided to deposit at Harvard.

I don't think it will have to do with twins, but I'm sure there will be some SFS and RFR going on.

SFS: Splitter for Splitter
RFR: Reverse-splitter for reverse-splitter

Jumping onto the discussion. In my js1 I was also asked where I have deposited and why. I said that x school gave me a good package so I deposited there. She then followed up by saying "you know HLS does their FA differently .. is cost that big of a factor for you" which made me feel like she didn't like when I said I chose x school for cost because she was "worried" I would take HLS at cost...

thoughts ? did i commit a faux pas?

You're fine. They probably just wanted to make sure that going to Harvard at sticker wouldn't be an issue. As long as you were clear that you would, I doubt it hurt you.

I basically said it was one factor but I realize that education is an investment in my future and that I thought overall the package was a great fit. However, HLS is also totally worth it etc. She said she liked that I viewed it an investment that pays back over time.

Just felt like it'd be easy for her to say " i think you'll be happy at x thanks for your interest in HLS" from that point.

If JS did that at the end of an interview, I'd want to see the replay.

On a completely different note, I'm going to go play through FFVII while I'm waiting for a response. Anyone with me?

Started replaying FFX after my JS1 in November. Just finished yesterday. Did too many side-quests.

Will probably replay FFIX and Legend of Dragoon over the summer.

I think I tried the first 30 minutes of both of those games and just couldn't get into it. I enjoyed FF8 until I realized you could game the system by only upgrading your GFs; then it got lame.

FF7 always holds a place in my heart, though. I'll name Cloud after you in honor of your OP status.

I take it you missed the 10 page video game discussion in the Columbia thread. Some of us ranked our favorite FF games.

Related part:
Lavitz wrote:Immediately after being passed over in the first JS2 round, I started replaying FFX and named the main character Lavitz. Then I realized that was a terrible strategy to cheer myself up when you consider how the game ends
So thanks for naming Cloud after me now.

On the topic of FF...

Who is going to buy the FFX remake when it hits the shelves? I definitely will! :)

I would also buy a FFVII remake if SE ever made one.

Full-blown video game discussion imminent.

Not me because I don't have a PS3 and I've pretty much retired from gaming.

Also, just went back to the Columbia thread to get the quote where I explained why I stopped gaming, then realized you were the one who asked me about it.

LOL, I remember! :) I don't think I will be getting a PS4 anytime soon though. I will wait for it to drop significantly in price beforehand.

I would buy it for the PS3 just because I love this damn game so much! When I first played it, I wasn't struck by the love story so much. Now that I am older, the story of Yuna and Tidus makes me so giddy yet so sad.

Also, I could see helix with a tattoo on the side of his face.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
