I was really upset when I thought I wasn't going to get to go. Can't thank you enough for helping me be able to!
TLS LOVE! So touching.
Do people generally go straight into Boston or does anyone have experience taking Gotobus (for example) from NY? The latter seems a couple hundred bucks cheaper in my case..

Try using Kayak, and make sure you're clearing your cookies or browsing incognito. Someone tipped me off that those sites register cookies to keep you from looking at lower price flights that have come along since you first started looking, and they were right. My price alerts said the cheapest was 500 - searching Kayak in an incognito window pulled up 300.
That's some sneaky shit.

That was suggested to me as an alternative, but it would have been more expensive for me that way.

No kidding! I feel like the price alerts are just taunting me now. "ONLY 450 now! Better buy!"
ETA: will anyone be arriving for ASW early-ish on Friday who might want to split gas/rental car costs to drive to YLS for a self-guided tour?
I figured I might as well cover all the bases if I don't get my ding by then.

Orrrr you can pretend to be an admitted student since that would be during YLS ASW

Really? Weird!
I'd give myself away if I tried to fake it. Hahaha. Definitely something to keep in mind though!

Sooo I'm attempting to fill out the online FinAid app and see that Macs aren't supported?? Anybody have any experience with completing it with a Mac or am I supposed to find a random PC somewhere?

Small chance I did the finaid app at work on a pc but I'm pretty sure I did it at home on a Mac without any problems.

Monday. But everything was complete a week before that except for one stupid W2 that I didn't notice hadn't uploaded.
Ah, okay. I've been complete a couple weeks, so I think I'll shoot an email sometime in the middle of next week if nothing comes up soon. Thanks!
did you end up contacting them? I've been complete for 3 weeks now, but I feel awkward calling
I emailed to make sure they didn't need anything else from me, and they said they were majorly backed up and would email me when they had something to report. Nothing yet!
+1
I've been complete for 2.5 weeks and I emailed. They said my file is currently going through the 2nd read and I will hear back soon. So I'm guessing they read each file at least twice before they render a decision--just like the admissions office.

Has anyone successfully leveraged another school's finaid package and gotten HLS to match? I have a feeling my package from HLS will be significantly less than what I just got from YLS...

Y'all March ASWers said they weren't too terribly strict about the 10 day deadline for travel subsidy requests, right?
I totally forgot to mail mine out yesterday, which would have been the deadline.

You're fine. I was late and turned it in and was approved (though I still haven't gotten reimbursed, but I expected a couple month delay).

Did you fill out the Admitted Students Survey? Mine came like two-three weeks after I submitted it.

Do you get an email once all your financial aid documents are received to signify that the app is complete and sent to review? All my docs are received, but I didn't get an email (which the website said would happen). Did I do something wrong?
Also how much are they giving for the stipend this year? And can I submit the receipts at AsW? I booked my flight tickets but not my accommodations

I did get an e-mail saying that my finaid application was ready for review. Might just be a delay, though.

Thanks. Just sent them an email to follow up
Been looking at housing arrangements, and I think Hastings is my favourite. Can't decide between the 1-BR or 2-BR suites though.
I don't mind the 2-BR suites, since the common rooms look pretty huge, and being social is always a nice thing. It's also cheaper. But then again, 1-BRs are probably more convenient and privacy is always good too. What is everyone else thinking?

Groupius for me. I'm honestly excited - I've had roommates for four years and I'm just super pumped about finally having my own space, however small it may be. I stayed there over ASW (I took pictures of the room if anyone wants to see it) and it is small, but I can definitely live with it (perks of being a K-JD, I still have all of my dorm storage bins and such). I wish I had the option of having my own kitchen (I stress bake/cook...), but that isn't an option in Hastings or North, so might as well take the cheaper option.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
