Got the call this afternoon...still in shock.
I'm posting this to give hope to everyone who sent their app in early, but did not hear back during the big November wave. Good luck to all!

Any stats you're willing to post? Specifically URM, LSAT range, and maybe submit date? Thanks, and congraaaaaaatulations!MayBJack426 wrote:Got the call this afternoon...still in shock.

I'm pretty sure you just got lucky (I'm hoping just on the date part, not on the decision part...because our numbers are almost identical).ssanonymous wrote:I just don't get how Berkeley's turnaround is just SO much faster than any other school. It's not that they don't get a bunch of apps, and it's not like they only pick based on numbers. What's the deal?

Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I know the feeling -- similar thing happened to me the other day with a few calls from a blocked number. Turned out to be Time Warner (another reason I didn't need to hate them). Hope your call turns out to be from Berkeley and not your cable/internet provider!Regulus wrote:I know that Berkeley has an area code of (510), but I missed a call from a number that was 0000000000 around 3:30pm EST today.... and have no clue who it could have been. UVA used a blocked (not all 0's) number when they called me, so I am freaking out that I might have missed a call from a law school. (I am just hoping it would be Berkeley because that's really the only school that is calling right now that I haven't heard anything back from yet.) Anyone familiar with the mysterious 0000000000 number? Is it probably just something completely random and unrelated to law school?

Thanks! Non-URM, applied back in Sept. Honestly no idea when I went complete/UR/etc. Not good about keeping track of those dates. GPA above 75th and LSAT right at median.MayBJack426 wrote:Any stats you're willing to post? Specifically URM, LSAT range, and maybe submit date? Thanks, and congraaaaaaatulations!
If $$$ was no object, Berkeley would be my first choice

Anyone know what percent of admitted students of Berkeley Law are California residents? Just curious if they have a significant advantage over non-residents.

You have a roughly equal chance of being admitted regardless of your residency. We strive to enroll a class that has a majority of residents, but we offer admission to an equal number of residents and nonresidents."

Sent application through LSAC 12/06
Under review 12/07
I am just at their median LSAT and have no UDGPA...kinda worried about such a fast process, are they going to reject me directly?

Unless # of residents applying = # of non-residents applying, this does not make sense to me..Berkeley what yah trying to pull?!Regulus wrote:"Do in-state applicants have higher preference than those from out of state?believeit wrote:Anyone know what percent of admitted students of Berkeley Law are California residents? Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I interpreted it as saying that they admit residents and non-residents at the same frequency, but the non-residents they admit are the ones that aren't likely to attend Berkeley. I don't believe they would actually do that do. Plus who wouldn't want to be at Berkeley?!?!sinfiery wrote:Unless # of residents applying = # of non-residents applying, this does not make sense to me..Berkeley what yah trying to pull?!Regulus wrote:"Do in-state applicants have higher preference than those from out of state?believeit wrote:Anyone know what percent of admitted students of Berkeley Law are California residents? Has anyone who has been accepted received the information necessary ("your unique Student ID and the PIN which you received from us by email.") to access the admitted students page?

Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I see what you guys mean. It wouldn't surprise me if the number of In-State applicants are a lot closer to the number of out of state applicants than in your example though. If you had terrible numbers, but you live in California and keep hearing about this "holistic" application process, you'd probably go for it? A lot of people that don't live in California would probably be happy with a regional school at in state tuition, but California residents don't really have an equivalent option. In state here is still pretty crippling, so you'd want to get into the best school possible. Stanford sucks.Regulus wrote: Yeah, but I can definitely see what sinfiery is getting at. If the raw number of admitted (not matriculating) out-of-state applicants at Berkeley is about the same as the raw number of admitted in-state applicants, then the total number of in-state applicants would have to be equal to the total number of out-of-state applicants for the acceptance rates to be the same between the two. For example:
Out-of-State: Applied: 5000, Accepted: 300, Acceptance Rate: 6%
In-State: Applied: 2000, Accepted: 300, Acceptance Rate: 15%
The above hypothetical conditions, if true, would match Berkeley's remarks, but they would also make it apparent that in-state applicants have an advantage because there is less competition for the spots allotted to them. (Notice how they say "equal number" and not "equal %".)

So I submitted my application on the 11th and went under review on the 21st. I'm really nervous since I haven't heard anything since.
Can someone just tell me I'm being silly? / Do I have reason to worry? I know a lot of others who went UR on the 21st have heard back.
I'm 169/3.83.

Our dates are exactly the same. Submitted 11/11, complete 11/21, and I haven't heard back either. I don't know if this helps, but you're not alone.harveyfan wrote:So I submitted my application on the 11th and went under review on the 21st. I'm really nervous since I haven't heard anything since.
