Admitted today via Status checker! However, no email or notification. Did this happen to anyone else? Just making sure I'm not dreaming.
Also, how long did it take those admitted to receive an admit packet/scholly info?

For anyone coming to the next ASD, a toooooonnn of apartments right near campus have started putting up signs for apartments coming available in May and August. If you're interested in living close to campus, I would carve out an hour or so in your schedule to walk around the neighborhood and take down numbers. A good place to start would be McFarlin St. I walk my dog around here every night and saw about six apartment signs go up in the last three or four days.
McFarlin, High School, Asbury, and then Rosedale and Daniel are all good streets to look on. Apartments in the vicinity generally go from $800(ish) and up, depending on the size and amenities. Plus the ones around campus go FAST, so I would look ASAP if I were you...

Yeah, there's a 1-bedroom on Asbury for $900.swilson215 wrote:For anyone coming to the next ASD, a toooooonnn of apartments right near campus have started putting up signs for apartments coming available in May and August. There are also a lot of places in the Uptown and Village areas which are 5 minutes from campus. I am 5 minutes from the law school parking garage any time of the day so its still plenty close.

I'm also thankful they called w/ scholly info the day after acceptance instead of having to wait a week or so for snail mail.

FYI Sumners interview invites just got e-mailed (they didn't BCC so we can all see the real names of everyone in the finalist process, haha). They said over 1000 people applied this year, 22 got invites, and 5 will be picked.

Re: SMU 2012
One thing I am curious to see is how many of the 22 finalists have/will accept offers at higher ranked schools and are therefore no longer interested in the scholarship. Anybody on this forum fall into this category?

If 1,000 people applied that'd be miraculous; however, the email says "over 100."TexasWave wrote:FYI Sumners interview invites just got e-mailed (they didn't BCC so we can all see the real names of everyone in the finalist process, haha). Re: SMU 2012
I was at the ASD yesterday. Dean was interesting and the class was good, but the professor presented an unusual "lecture" based on a fake case that the students, divided into small firms, discussed. The other students that I spoke to were mostly undecided, so those still waiting to hear should feel better. I like SMU, but I'm still undecided as well.

Don't get LASIK before law school. Your vision will get worse during school. I'm not even kidding...TexasWave wrote:Whoops, you are right- I have special contacts and very limited vision so sometimes I miss some digitsHopefully can get lasik surgery before I become a lawyer and have to read over contracts

Exactly. His points about SMU being a great school if you want to practice in North Texas are spot on .... but to tell me the main reason you should go to a school is by looking at the absolute top alumni, namely 2 guys who are CEO's of Fortune 50 companies that graduated from SMU, not so much.kalvano wrote:I hope by "interesting" you mean a bloated, name-dropping windbag.Weber wrote:Dean was interesting
